Can someone please confirm for me if they can get SportsMax channel on Intelsat 707 from NA and if it is in the free and clear? Thank you.

sorry, I apologize for being impatient, however I have an opportunity to purchase a dish and equipment that may slip away. I really need to know if someone in the US can verify they are able to get this channel. This is a major motivation to make an investment in c-band.

Thanks in advance for your help as I know many here do not point to this bird and would probably need to take some time to move the Dish to verify. Hopefully someone who has a good setup to track the arc would be able to do me a favor.

A month or so ago I put up a very nice and expensive ADL circular C-band orthomode feed with two very nice and expensive Norsat LNBs on my 3m dish, tuned it with my spectrum analyzer and went through all the circular C-band satellites I can get in Colorado (NSS 806, Intelsat 705 and Intelsat 707). Equipment-wise, this is about as good as it gets barring a larger dish. I checked through the Lyngsat listings and made a summary of the differences I found. According to my notes, SportsMax did not show up on a blindscan, so I looked on my spectrum analyzer. I found a low-CNR signal close to 3820R, but the SR was below 1000 and it did not appear to be DVB modulated.

My conclusion was SportsMax is gone from Intelsat 707. As it is listed in Lyngsat on the next bird over (Intelsat 805) in a report that is four years more current, it seems very unlikely they would be paying for transponder space on both satellites. There is a slight chance that it could be too weak for me to see it here, but in the face of all other evidence, I would recommend you take this off your wish list.

Thanks again Pendragon. I'll curb my optimism based on what you have provided. Is there any carrier for c-band that would give Sportsmax al-la-cart? The issue I am running up here in the US, is that the two big dominating pizza carriers have some of the games (tours) while the other has the rest. They both require a monthly subscription (which overlaps in terms of the channels in the minimal package you select) just to be able to purchase these tours which they re-sell quite expensively. I have always never mind paying just for the tours if they would let me, but I don't want the monthly subs to both just to get them when all I mostly look at otherwise is what I get in HD over OTA.

I too have a 3m dish set for circular only with a dual ortho an Cal Amp lnb's, an I can hit Intel-901 for my farest east sat.
now getting to Intel-707, I have No signal on the 3820-V TP, that you're asking about, but their is a sports channel on 3942-H on IS-707 that scans in as "Sports", don't know if it is Sports Max or not it comes in as scrambled right now, an from time to time is itc, an have not noticed if it is sports max or not have not sat an watched it, but real its a real hot signal here in Fla.

but 1 thing to take into consideration here tradewinds is the feed that I have an what pedragon is using, they are circular feed horns. as a matter of fact would luv to have a ADL feed but can not seem to spend $500 just for that feed only. if you are planing to get a lnb-f an put a die-ectric plate in it, they do not work very well at all, their is a lot of anntuation once that plate goes in the feed throat, an also their is a big trade off when converting a leniar feed over with a plate to circular, yes they do work, but not well, to where you may need a bigger dish, to get some of these signals.

now don't know what kind of sports that you are looking for but over to the east their is a lot of Euro sports feeds of all kinds that I find here, an bunches of soccer stuff.

1captain...thank you for taking the time. I mainly have been without much of the sport cricket since I left the Caribbean where I'm from and where I grew up. I have from time to time try to get some of the tours from the big pizza companies here in the US, but as I stated above, they now split the tours between them for exclusivity and thus you need a monthly sub for them both, plus on top of that pay the high fees for the packages. With that said and done, then there are many times when the games that should be on are not on, thus time needs to be invested on the phone with their tech support for them to get it fixed and then, by the way there are chronic drop outs after that. Finally, after all this, just try and get some credit for the time you wasted and the signals you did not get and you'll be on the phone for a few more hours yelling. I have also started to watch some games on willow.tv via internet but it is just not the same.

If you find that channel ITC, please note the time, date and the programming being broadcast and I can cross reference that with the schedule on their website to see if it is the same channel. I am glad to know the signal is real hot here in Fla. I am hoping this compensates for what you are describing above with the die-ectric plate.

Thanks again.

Well, I manage to secure the 10' mesh dish. It is a Unimesh with a Chaparral feed and LNB. 1Captain, were you able to get anymore info on what that station that scanned in as "Sports" really is?

No sir just have not had time with the holidays an people coming down to get out of the cold up north to here, plus work has pick up too. but will pull some scans over the week end.

but on another note their are a few sports channels up on NSS-806 open right now that are 422 but no SpotsMax, they are LatinESPN which could be what you are looking for.

good news on getting a 10-footer, for circular need to save up an get that ADL feed that pendragon uses in my book its about the best gain going, for playing with circular c-band.

BTW - where can I find a link to that ADL?

There has been a long line of fish eating each other. At the moment Cobham owns the ADL designs and offers only this datasheet:

http://www.cobham.com/media/43271/data000069_rev001.pdf

There's a little more said here, along with the damage:

ADL-RP3CPOR1

I wouldn't suggest this as your first feed as it is really only for circular C-band. There is a lot more linear C-band available here than circular. This feed can technically do both, but this is not documented nor do I recommend it. It requires a manual adjustment to switch between the two.
