Tuberville to Texas Tech, Carrol to Seahawks

The Pete Carroll story really surprises me. If I had to guess I'd say that he knows a lot more than the public does about the possible infractions that have been committed at USC and he's looking to split before the you know what hits the fan. The Seattle job is not that great and to leave a collge powerhouse for a so so NFL team Carroll must fear something.

With out a doubt he knows what is going on and what is going to hit the fan!:up

You hit it right on the head !

Had USC not been in this position, theres NO WAY Carroll would have been leaving.
There have been better jobs out there that he has passed on in the past several years.

I'm not surprised he left seeing the situation.

Wow...to both stories. I didn't know Tuberville was up for the TT job.

Rumors have been out for days. I almost didnt post either of them, because I figured they were in one of the NFL coaches leaving threads or something.

I was aware of the Carroll rumor.

TT at TT. That will be interesting. I always thought Tuberville could really motivate his teams. Kinda glad he didn't go back to another SEC team.

Tuberville will run a clean program and demand a lot from his players. Good coach.

Carroll has turned in his resignation to USC. Will be interesting who they go after. I wonder how many will turm it down with the NCAA lurking.

Is the NCAA investigating right now or are we just speculating because of Carrol's abrupt departure?

Two more reasons I haven't heard discussed yet.......

1. Pete Carrol (married) was in an "alleged" relationship with a grad-student. The scandal that would surely ensue if proven true would be very nasty for Pete and his family. It's possible Pete's wife could've had "influence" on him leaving USC for Seattle...

2. Seahawks owner, Paul Allen is one of the wealthiest men in the world. His "reported" offering of $7 million a year might have been too good to pass up.

Hmmm. Mike Riley from Oregon State was the first choice at USC nine years ago, but the Chargers wouldn't let him out of his contract, so they went with Pete Carroll. Then the b*st*rds in San Diego fired Riley the next year (another victim of Ryan Leaf). Riley paid his dues around the NFL for a few years until Oregon State's job opened up again.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

Mike Riley isn't jumping from Oregon State this time. Probably a smart move given the ongoing NCAA investigations at USC.

USC is going to suffer now. I guess Sabres will be happy. The Trojans, despite their progam's history, weren't always great. When Pete Carroll arrived in 2001 they were like a west coast version of what ND is now. With no successor, and no reason for incoming recruits to sign things could get ugly quickly. And that's not even mentioning the hammer the NCAA may drop.

I've heard Jack Del Rio's name mentioned as a replacement. Let's see. He could coach a pro team in LA now or wait until the Jaguars move out there. :D
