Yes, it is one thing to charge fees on leased equipment.

But to charge $17 a month extra to use your own two output DVR for which you paid hundreds of dollars, is borderline insanity... especially when the media has been constantly full of stories advising people to cut down their spending and save more money.

Yeah I BOUGHT ALL my boxes, the 17 buck fee sucks.

a excellent reason to cancel , for the principle of the thing!!

Unless you only have one rec'r...

The no-phone-line fee for a sole dual receiver was supposed to have been dropped LAST February, although I keep seeing people posting that they're still getting charged for it. I bet nobody bothered to ask Dish about that at CES either. Just like how nobody probably asked them why a ViP receiver cares if your OTA signal drops while you're watching a satellite channel. It's a good thing I don't get to go to CES, or I'd probably get arrested. I can't stand stupid people.

Well, I suppose if Dish is going to raise the monthly bill for a the high-end AEP folks who have a lot of ViP's and HD boxes, they could do something in return: They could allow us big discounts on upgrades or other "incentives." This would be in recognition of the fact that high dollar subs provide them with HUGE returns and far less likely to churn compared to those at the lowest or lower end. In fact, the upgrade discounts could be offered to each tier level; the higher the level and the longer at that level, the greater the discount. Or it could be based on how much you spend each month on your bill. Something like what the credit cards do. I just got a credit from one of my cards for about $40 because of my annual spending. Dish could do something like that, one would hope. Dish could at least waive the $25 field charge for AEP folks who have DHP and need a visit from a tech, etc. Remember, this wouldn't make sense for Dish to extend it to lower monthly bill subs, but the cost is easily covered by the high-end AEP with a lot of HD DVR's and boxes.

In other words, if Dish is going to subject the biggest money makers for them to well over $30 per month increase, they could do a few things to ease the blow, and it really wouldn't cost them much at all because the next month bill at over $130+ will easily cover that cost.

Well I can tell you for sure,This is the first year I will demand a discount or promotion of some type, or I'll just move on. E* has been great with giving me deals for the past 2 1/2 years without even asking them. It better continue.

I will not sign ANY contracts with ANY company today! It gives them far too much power for minimal return.

if you look back at my leak post everyone must have at least one receiver plugged into phone or ethernet or theres a ADDITIONAL ACCOUNT FEE, now wether thats on single receiver accounts i dont know.

besides who would have beleved this raping of high end subs if I had come here 6 months ago and warned everyone?

I would of been laughed at.

but hey you may be elegible for a 6 buck a month credit..

subs calling to complain will be routed directly to the loyalty team, all credits must be given by them so no one gets over 6 bucks......

I wonder about scotts silence on all this?

E must be upset with our comments, why has scott disappeared and failed to ask E the HARD QUESTIONS??

Yeah if I had gone to CES, I would of asked the tough ones. heck i would of gone if i had known about the fees.

next year someone needs to go who isnt too cozy with E............

I agree, Scott's silence from CES has been deafening.

Hey the retailer news PDF posted here says!!!

No programing fee increase in Q1.

So my leak denied by scott that a programing increase may be coming just not immediately is now verified by E publically....

Come to think of it, Bob's hollering has also been deafening.

Does that mean you are longer going to go with Fios either? Fios requires you to sign a 2 year contract to get installed otherwise Fios will not run a Fiber line to you house. After your 2 year contract you are free to pay ala cart pricing if you choose to do so but only way to get a bundling discount is to keep re-newing those contracts.

I already have Fios phone and internet. Just waiting for the final word on fees from E, then its either comcast or fios for tv.

given the stellar service fios phone provided they offered me no contract options.

you would of HAD to live with a phone that didnt work reliably for 2 MONTHS to understand my frustration with verizon.

honestly I would much rather keep E but not if they are going to rape their high end subs.

I have a friend with cable tv, might put my slingbox there and get a slingcatcher. he owes me bigtime for some stuff.:)

I dont have a high def tv, so PQ doesnt have to be flawless.

That and my dish pal DVR may meet my needs just fine.

I have been thinking of recording a LOT of my favorite shows on a computer, since most are repeats anyway I wouldnt miss much.

I had this idea before the E fee thing came up......

a 100 bucks a month is $1200 a year. thats a lot opf money to just watch tv

I think Scott may be stuck in an airport somewhere trying to get back from Vegas.

I just love the long, rambling, non-answer from Bob regarding your question about the contract.

On one hand, he will NEVER, EVER sign a contract. But the only way to get Fios is to sign a two year contract.

Talking out of both sides of your mouth at the same time, Bob should be in Washington!

I don't follow you, I'm Getting HD and HD Platinum for $10 per month. Not $20 per month.
Dish will give me free HD?

Until last week I was charged $10 for Gold HD and another $10 for Platinum HD, makes $20 together. I have AEP also. I noticed that a new sub would only pay $10 for HD and Platinum as Gold HD isn't available anymore. I went to online chat and complained and they changed me to HD & Platinum after a lengthy discussion. I just thought it was is wrong to do me that way, especially in expectation of the new upcoming pricing structure and the fact that other existing subs got the same. I did not feel ashamed to ask for this.

If you hung around here more, you would have learned about it 6 months or more ago. Most regulars here had it taken care of immediately.

Fees.

wow, didnt remember reading about a fee even if you own your own equipment. This is getting downright rediculous DISH

John
Yeah your right, their should not be a fee if you own your equipment as far as a fee like the lease fee's.The only fee you should have to pay when you own would be the dvr fee.

As I THOUGHT I said already......

I currently have FIOS phone and internet. The phone portion was a PIA. the internet rock solid:)

I called recently planning on canceling, to see when my 2 year contract was up. it ended in december.

a nice retention rep after reviewing my account and dismayed at my experience for fios phone offered me a no contract upgrade to fios tv., she noted my account that its available.

I was happy with E, till now:(

So I am waiting for the official word from E, to get fios tv which is available to me CONTRACT FREE!

the phone internet tv bundle is just over a 100 bucks a month, around the same asv I pay for E today.,

I should really thank whoever came up with the fee charge. it got me shopping and found much lower price:)

The last time this happened State Farm made its annual increase in my business liabilty policy and insisted a rep must visit my home / business to rate it for the coming year insisted coming early sepotember my busiest time of year when school opens and I struggle with 70 hour work weeks.

state farm got me shopping I saved 200 bucks a year for double the coverage. Actually felt bad for my agent who I have been with since the 70s. I asked him do you want to raise any more rates:) I still have homeowners and car insurance with him.

Incidently I have bought a duplicate cell phone, no upgrade contracts for me. just call and connect....

I have NO contracts at all:D

companies shouldnt be allowed to stand behind poor service with a contract
