Is the CS7000 and the CS7100 firmware the same for factory. I just got a 7000 but has third party software on it. I would like to go back to the latest factory but can not find anything but the CS7100 software.

Chuck

Have you tried a google search for the factory firmware? I found the factory firmware for my CS7100 micro PVR using google.

last resort:

If you have no better luck, I'll post Coolsat 7000 ver 1.16 factory here on the forum for ya.
Also found Coolsat 7100 ver 1.14 factory, too.

There is also a loader program, which runs on your computer to send the firmware to the receiver via RS-232.

They are about 1mb and 100kb, respectively.

I don't have either receiver, so can't really offer any other comment.

Yea googled it and found it on some other fourms. however they are a little questionable. So I did not download the loader of firmware. Was hoping someone here might have it. If the 7100 and 7000 use the same software then I can use that as it is here in the fourms for the 7100 but with no loader.

Could I talk you into letting me grab them from you. At least that would be a step closer to getting it back to factory :)

Yes no problem, but I don't know the protocol for this site and software attachments, If I upload then with my next post will I be breaking any rules?

factory software we have no issues with. I've posted factory stuff here for years :)

Its when folks post stuff that is new hackware then there are issues.

Cool and thank you, Here is the loader and the editor for the CS7000, in zip format.

You will need a working serial port (or maybe a USB to serial converter).
I use 10 year old laptops for the job - they always had a real serial and parallel port. - ;)
Got a P1-100mhz Toshiba and a P1-233mhz NEC to burn my routers, receivers, etc. -
3gb and 10gb drives are plenty good, as is Windows 98se or Windows 2000. -

You'll also need a serial cable, but I don't know if it will need to be straight-through, or a crossover type.
The crossover cable swaps serial input and serial output compared to straight through cable.
Should be an easy search on Google.
And if you have to make your own, it shouldn't be more than $3.
I think I documented this matter a few years back, after going to the local electronic store.
Each connector (2 ea) and each plastic shell (2 ea) were around 50 or 70 cents each, and the cable I used was left-over Cat5.
Again, Google will find you proper wiring diagrams for each kind, if necessary.

the CS7000 has a USB port so he can just download it and plug the usb item into the reciever to update the software

- oops!

Oh.!. - - :D

Thought only the 7100 had that port.
So, then... ya don't need the loader, either!? -
Well, color this green guy red , eh? :)

either way I can do it is not bad. I have tons of laptops laying around :)

USB is even better as I don't have to get the laptop out :)
