I referred someone to DirectTV about 3 mos ago. I gave the person that number to call and my acct #. Neither me nor that person received the promised credit. When I called they said that the correct phone number had not been used etc. I verified with the person and not true. A person from DirectTV called me and I signaled my intention to drop the service. That person offered me a $10 credit each month for 10 mos and another credit to my referral. I got my bill and the credit was only given once. I am not impressed with their not following through on the promised credit. I sent an email to their corporate office saying that I want to cancel as they have not followed through on their promise. I see no where to cancel and I am not pleased with them. How can I cancel their service if they are not going to honor promises

You were offered a $ 10 credit for 10 months, so it will take 10 months to get it all, thats the way they set it up and thats how it works for all of us.

You would Cancel, because someone didn't get a referral ?
You signed up 3 months ago, that will be what about $ 400 in cancellation fees for you over this ? $20 p/m for approx 20 months left on your 2 year contract.

YOU HAVE to use the phone number they supply for the referral, it doesn't seem right, I've lost referrals that way as well ..... I didn't cancel, I just don't refer anyone anymore.

Your problem with the referral is not related to your contract for Directv service.

It is like the installer that doesn't get paid. That too has nothing to do with the customers' service contract.

If you don't like the Directv...quit & pay. If the referral thing didn't work out......is this the first TV ad that has turned out to be BS?

If you add a new subscription channel like FSC Plus to your programming, does doing that reset you to the start of another two year contract, making it expensive to leave DirecTV?

I got screwed out of a referral about a year ago too. The person signing up definitely called the correct number and definitely gave them my account number. They wouldn't make good on it.

I am refusing to deal with new DTV customers who even mention the refferal stuff. I tell them I do not have $100.00 to introduce them to Directv. If Directv chooses to lie to get a subscriber that is outside my personal ethics.

I also mention I am one of many who has been screwed by the Directv installation and has court judgments against contractors who have vanished.

So far it looks lie if DTV gets caught / called on the referral they will pay up......but I have seen this before. A local lady sent me many PrimeStar referrals and was told there was a limit of one per neighbor. She got her referral money: can't say how.
