OK...timer question ;)

Since almost all of us have to go through this stupid daylight savings time crap tonight here is a question on timers. I've read a few threads but confused on them

If I have a timer set for tomorrow (Sunday) at 7:00PM to record the hockey game and I set it up today will it go off at the right time?

I know my Shaw Direct box would screw up the guide until 2AM when it would reset itself properly. If I would check today at programs for tomorrow it would be off by an hour. The Directv box shows the right time.

Reason I ask is I wont have access to be able to change it tomorrow morning.

In the set up section, under Display, go to Clock and see if your Daylight Savings is ON or not.
I leave mine on (auto) and it changes as it should every time.

well a few reasons
1. the sun now comes up at 7:30 in the morning and will be that way for about a week to 10 days before it gets to 7:00
2. it takes a good week to have my body deal with the change
3. they say you lose an hour of sleep. You actually lose more. If you get up the same time today as you did yesterday you lost an hour there. Then tonight when you go to bed unless you go to sleep at the same time as you normally would and fall asleep right away you lose another hour tonight because you have to get up at the "normal" work time.

I think its stupid. So what if the sun comes up at 6:30? It went down at 6:20 (yesterday) so there was still sunlight out after work.

1. So what.
2. Seriously ????
3. It's Sunday, just sleep an hour longer, you don't have a wife or any kids.

First time I've ever heard of daylight savings time affecting someone so much, or having it referred to as stupid daylight savings time crap.

Some places in the US don't do daylight savings time. Maybe you should move since it causes so much stress for you.

well I guess most folks who get up early to go to work would probably want the sun up. Easier to get up when the sun is up

2. Seriously ????
yep

I had to pick up my nieces at 10:00 this morning. So I lost sleep :p

I'll answer that at the end

AZ & Hawaii are the only two that dont.

Found another thread about the time change and its just more than me that dont like it. Here are some posts (names excluded)

Any other fellow night owls dreading spring forward?

Yep me here too!

Me too!

I can't stand it! Split the difference by 30 minutes and leave it alone!

I just hate time changing period. I just wish they would leave the time alone, like they do in AZ.

Yes, it's always sucks to FlashForward (pardon the pun!).

This time change is the worst for me...

I don't care how you spell them or abbreviate the two. (no offense) Pick one or the other or split the difference in half and leave it that way. Issues resolved, poof gone........

I love DST, but I hate the transition week. Takes me about a week to get back to normal. I would be in favor of DST all year, I am not a morning person, may as well have the sun in the evening when I could use it. I rather drive to work in the dark than come home in the dark. It makes me feel like the day is already over.

I'm not a morning person either, which is why I hate DST. I'd rather not get up til the sun is up. By the time it's warm enough to do anything outside, sunset is late enough on its own.

I hate springing forward, but I love falling back.

TOTALLY agree w/Ice - it IS stupid! I do NOT have a problem in the fall, since I gain an extra hour sleep then - but then, it gets dark SO early & you can't do outside work as late as you could, even with nice weather! Then, you get to repeat this stupid exercise again next year. And yes, loosing JUST the hour of sleep really messes up my internal clock!

Honestly, I wish DST would stay on forever - IOW, leave the time as it NOW is, & not even go back to a "standard time"...

I can understand the need for the change when "back in the day" people need to work during light hours. (farmers, shop keepers, etc.)

But we now have this new fangled invention called, ELECTRICITY and the electric light bulb!

Also, so many places/cities/businesses are now 24 hour operations it seems a moot point to change the time when the folks have to show up regardless of the hour.

So much of the world (and parts of the USA) ignore the change, I say it's time we all do it as well!

BTW: for some reason my season pass of Mythbusters recorded a bunch of infomercials! Dang time change I say!!!

I guess some people have a very difficult time dealing with change in their everyday life.

Time for WAPNER !!
Time for WAPNER !!
Time for WAPNER !!
