On my relatively new 3Gs iPhone, I am finding that it is tending to display "no service" after a day or two, even where there are 5 bars. The fix is to reboot it, and it goes from "no service" to 5 bars.

Anyone ever heard of this? Did not happen until after last update. Coincidence? I'm hoping it's not a hardware problem.

Are there any software updates available? Did you install any apps just before this started happening? Just trying to think through possible software problems, but really just taking a stab in the dark. Good luck!

Mike- we're talking iphone here. If he is experiencing this it likely is just a carrier ( AT&T) issue just within his geographic region. I used to experience the same type and style issues with T-Mobile and cingular one years ago.

Then again if navychops hacked the phone with jailbird or some other hack, all bets are off.

The beauty of the iphone is that it is so tightly controlled by Apple, that few if any bugs surface that are not wide spread on all iphones. I would have AT&T check the phone and maybe they are also aware of a network problem in the area. When I had simiular issues with T-Mobile, I'd call in and always get this reponse- " I just checked and we are having some problems with the towers in your area, try again in a few days."

Never hacked. And the software, I just checked, is up to date.

If it continues, I'll call Apple.

I'm almost happy to hear that. If many people have the problem, Apple will fix it. And maybe it's not my particular phone.
