Goodbye Brett Favre. ehhh maybe not

A LOT of early on developments hurting possible playoff contenders so far throughout the NFL! This just in: The road to the playoffs are officially WIDE OPEN!

examples of strife:

Vikings: Favre not coming back
Steelers: Big Ben suspended for 4-6 games. OT Willie Colon tore his Achilles.
Chargers: Vincent Jackson suspended for 3 games
Broncos: Lose RB's Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter to injury.
Redskins: Highest paid defensive player can't pass conditioning test. Remains on PUP list.
Jets: Best shut-down corner in the league is sitting out. Demands more money.

Haha, yeah right. We have read this book before.
I agree with the others. He will show up during preseason.

Great news for us Packer fans. Not from a competitive status, but an emotional one. Nothing harder than seeing him in a Vikings uniform. The way he left Green Bay was not graceful and GB management couldn't be faulted because it was Rodgers' time and a tough decision had to be made. Very hard on all of us that enjoyed watching him those many years. I think he found out, though, that for true fans, the team comes first no matter how great any one player is.

we'll see.....I said the 16th he'd report which is the first day of practice for the Vikes (not training camp). Vikes leave Training camp on the 12th....14th is 1st pre-season game

ESPN is saying a press release is expected later on today from the Vikings and Favre. Sounds serious this time.

favre to retire = [translation] "i'm not gonna be a viking this year" Soooooo.....where will he be playing? maybe he'll rejoin holmgren in cleveland, where else could he go chicago, detroit?

I think that Matt Leinart will pleasantly surprise fans in Arizona & Tarvaris Jackson will also pleasantly surprise fans in Minnesota. I see both teams in the play-offs this year, maybe even win their respective divisions. Meanwhile,Brett Favre will join Al Michaels & Cris Collinsworth in the booth for NBC Sunday Night Football.

Yeah, right...

I'll believe it when Favre is gone for about 15 years and in the Hall of fame. Then, maybe he'll come out of retirement and start the OFFL (Old Folks Football League):)

if he was serious about retirement he would have announced it well before now.as history has shown time and time again, when brett says i'm retiring, it has different meanings for different teams. in green bay it meant, i don't want to go through training camp, in new york it meant, i want to play, just not for the jets. and that's what i think is meant in minn. too. SO LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN.... I say favre will be in cleveland this season at some point. who else wants to take a guess?

didnt he do the same thing last year....retired then magically 2+ weeks into Training camp he "comes back" to sign with the Vikes? ;)

Did you know Mangini and Brett remain close? So much so, Eric Mangini's oldest son was named Zach BRETT Mangini after #4. Oh, and there's also the Mike Holmgren factor......

both Leinart and Jackson will have had to improve exponentially in the off season to rise above the futility each has shown in the past.

seriously? um, I dont think so (sadly)
Both Tavaris and Sage are not that good. Sure Tavaris can throw the ball in training camp but he freezes when defenses actually come at him
