NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

BTW, while the media is hyping that Brady is in the last 5 years of his contract, I guess they forgot to mention that so is Peyton Manning. Who knew!

Yeah right. It's especially surprising that this isn't mentioned since[sarcasm on] Brady isn't in the same class as Manning [sarcasm off]

I hope you are saying that Bernie Kosar is the same class of quarterback as Tom Brady.

Brady will probably get a 6 year deal 60 million guaranteed. So he will be here at least 5 years after this.

WHAT?! I did NOT know that Manning's contract is in it's last year??!!

After I read this, I noticed the difference between the two QBs is you have the owner of the Colts vowing he will do whatever it cost to keep Manning.

Colts owner: New deal for Peyton Manning will keep him in Indy - USATODAY.com

While Krafts only statements about his contract and where it stands is "were cooking".

Patriots owner Robert Kraft on Tom Brady contract talks: 'We're cooking' - The Huddle: Football News from the NFL - USATODAY.com

Now more than likely, it's two different owners handling contract negociations differently....but the media can ready all kinds of stuff into what was said and how it was said....

This is true, and especially true with Kraft/Belicheck's history of letting go of high priced players and replacing them with lower priced guys who perform well. I'd think that would not apply with a QB of Brady's stature, however, but their history will fuel speculation.

Resigning Peyton Manning and keeping him in Indy is smart on various levels...

#1. He's the face of the Colts and possibly the NFL. Keeping him in Indy makes wonderful sense from a business standpoint.

#2. Have you ever seen the Colts backup, Curtis Painter or Tom Brandstater? Enough said.

Bingo! As I mentioned before in my Bernie Kosar example, this is the #1 reason for all the speculation. Nothing more, nothing less. Belicheck has been doing this ever since he's been in the league.

ANOTHER thing to link to the Manning/Brady war between their fans...LOL! WHO will be signed 1st...WHO is more important to sign and WHO is most important to the team? LMAO!

Benny Sapp (MIN) to Miami. WR Greg Camarillo (MIA) to Minnesota! Huge pickup for Minnesota in the wake of losing Sydney Rice!

Vikings send Camarillo to Miami for Sapp - CBSSports.com

I am surprised by this move considering that Greg was and has been the most consistant WR the Dolphins have had in the last few seasons. That might mean Hartline will fill the role of the 2nd WR/Slot WR like Camarillo did and like Wes Welker before him.

Well,I have to eat my words on Matt Leinart. If only he cared as much about football as he does dating movie stars & Paris Hilton(& which ever reality babe he's chasing now...). His priorities are so f**ked up. If he keeps stinking up the place like he's doing, the only "babe" he'll end up with is Snooki(or Bobby Moynihan of SNL impersonating Snooki) from Jersey Shore.

Hey HDMM,

Big game this weekend, the epic battle of Cleveland and Detroit ....

What are your thoughts going in ?

Well, I know everyone doesn't like to put much stock in preseason, but I do think there are little tidbits and hints you can take out of these games. Especially the 3rd preseason game, otherwise known as "the dress rehearsal".

From my Browns, I'd like to see Jake get more reps with the first string receivers. It's crucial he gells with Mohamed Massaquoi & Brian Robiskie. Our passing game was atrocious last year and we need it to improve this year in order to be competitive. Bringing in a proven veteran was a step in the right direction.

Also, I'm not sure if rookie RB, Montario Hardesty is ready to play yet (injury), but I'd love for him to see some action. Earlier on in training camp, he was supposed to compete with Jerome Harrison for #1 Running Back. Either way, the most impressive RB on our squad so far has been the great white hope, Peyton Hillis. This bumbling, bruising, down-hill runner breaks tackles and runs with 3, 4, 5 guys hanging off him. He's quickly becoming a fan favorite. He reminds me of a more mobile Mike Alstott. Oh, and we got Hillis and a draft pick for Brady Quinn! I know it's early, but that is looking like a tremendous deal for us!

On the defensive side, I need to see more from CB Joe Haden. Selecting him and saftey TJ Ward were the first steps in shoring up our secondary. TJ Ward has impressed the pants off me. Now it's time for Joe Haden to step up.

No word on Shaun Rogers. He's still sidelined with an unspecified injury. Personally, I just think they're taking at easy on the big fella and he'll be ready to go week 1.

Also, it'd be nice to see a pass rush. We need to get pressure on the opposing QB, otherwise, it won't matter who's in our secondary. Give an NFL QB enough time in the pocket and he'll find a way to pick you apart.

Oh, and make it a good game! Go Browns!

Did anyone watch the Packers/Colts game last night?

I know it's early, but this might just be a future Super Bowl matchup in the making!

The aerial attack and clinic that Aaron Rogers and Peyton Manning put on was an absolute treat!

Is he still chasing skirts ?
I thought that was over awhile back.

Looks like Derek Anderson will start in his place this weekend.
Normally you would'nt think anything of it, being in the Pre Season, but seeing how Leinhart has played, it could be Andersons chance to take over.

That's Arizona's fault if they're fooled by DA.

He's a world beater one series and the next he's an interception machine and mentally weak.

There's a reason why he was dubbed Derek "Anderception" by Cleveland.

Patience my friend, I think both your Recvrs you mentioned were rookies last year, MOST rookie WR's have a rough 1st year.... better thing should be coming, however, when you change QB's every 20 minutes .....

I would look at the score at the end of the 1st half, I think both teams will play the starters for the 1st half.

Detroit's D line has looked very good so far, lets see what happens this game and see if they can continue to get pressure.

Detroit's D line has looked good/great in the Pre Season often and falls apart in the regular season.
That said, the Lions look like they might be starting to actually put a NFL team together, they have some quality pieces on the line now including rookie Suh and Vet VandenBosch

From where I was sitting last night, Sam Bradford looks like the real deal!! Dude has game!! :up

And oh yeah, a certain QB from the Patriots looked like he was in mid-season form!
