Well its official... no new DIRECTIVO this year, instead they hope to have it out early next year.

I called that way before they did. by time dtv comes out rvu will be out and make tivo pointless.

RVU is multiroom technology supported by DTV, Samsung and Sony. Basically you could theoretically have a whole home setup and get a TV that is RVU compatible and watch DVR content on a TV without an H24/HR24 or multi room compatible receiver. I don't know if I agree with Stone Cold or not because Tru2Way or cable card tech trying to do the same thing is something that tv manufacturers are not necessarily interested in pushing. Plus retailers would have to help push it and I doubt Best Buy or Walmart associates will be interested enough or trained well enough to sell it to customers.
But but rvu happening if tv manufactures make it happen or not.
dtv they will have dumb boxes small cheap boxes that will interface with the rvu unit. Difference between Tru2Way and RVU is RVU is just a extension of an existing protocol that all internet enabled tvs have. Hence why Sony . Samsung , Phillips, Vizio and now a few others have signed on as it virtual no work for them.
RVU is also being used by other stb manufactures so expect to see rvu digital cable boxes too.
Good to know Stone Cold. I would believe then RVU will be much more successful than cable card/tru way. I still get concerned from the retail perspective. I doubt anybody but professional AV sales houses will be able to communicate this technology to the common man. I doubt that reps (either in store, online or on the phone) will be able to communicate what RVU can do and what it means to them.
Got rid of my last one a couple of months ago. It is sitting in my closet collecting dust with the rest of them. It runs just as well there as it did when it was active
Unlike Tru2way, I dont think the RVU alliance intends on it being a "selling feature"
It going to be tech shows up installs rvu receiver in central loctions and then connects all non rvu tvs to a small box about the size of a napkin and then just directly plug the RVU tvs in and set them up. RVU is nothing more then some home automation with a central device that can be located in a av closet.
I'm in the who cares club. With the HR24 and MRV, I'm extremely happy with the DirecTV boxes....
