Lost 77 overnight .... what's wrong

Harriburg locals are working again, but like the others said they must've moved them. Switch test shows all 3 sats again but the signal strength on 77 is terrible (and seriously fluctuating)
The info on the guide screen shows the Harrisburg locals are on 61.5 now.
(I went to 21-0/WHP and did hit the info button - 61.5 was shown as the sat)

:D

Did not do tp signal check but checked all channels including locals and all looks good here in South Carolina.

Little Rock HD locals are on 72.7 if you know how to change your wing dish. I just just stumbled across it thinking my dish was knocked or blown out of alignment.
Chat with Dish got me no answers or a time from but I do have my HD locals for now. Hope this helps some. Just check uplink as well and it will show which ones went where.

wow, this reminds me when 119 went down for a while in October 2008 or was it 2009, i don't really know, it happened during one of those years, anyway i feel bad for y'all who depend on the 77 bird, i'm lucky that it isn't happening to ether 110, 119 or 129.

I called in to ask what happened (no answer) and how long services would be down. (No answer.) DISH did, however, give me Cinemax free for 1 month. Still no HD locals here at 5:57pm EST. (77 sat.)

BTW, 9405 & 9406 aren't even in my "all sub'd" guide anymore. No biggie for me, but I'll bet it's a big deal for many others. These things happen.

We may not find out what really happened until the next quarterly report comes out and see what failed in the satellites section. Of course it could be a ground based issue too, someone might have cut a fiber cable somewhere too.

They probably don't know what exactly happened yet. That's going to take a lot of study of the data to see exactly what went wrong and what caused it.

From the looks of it (and I could be wrong) it appears the satellite went out of the box. As it stands now it appears they are gaining control of it as on some of the 77 transponders I am getting weak signals.

DISH's first responsibility was to restoring as much programming as fast as they could to their customers and except for the DISH Latino and a few PPV and PI channels I think they did a good job of that.

It's going to be a long night for the guys and gals in Cheyenne tonight. :)

Looks like a few more DMA's have been fixed a little bit ago...

Just go this statement from DISH Network

The EchoStar 8 satellite, on which DISH Network leases capacity from EchoStar, experienced an anomaly early Sunday morning, Jan. 30, 2011, that primarily disrupted local TV service for DISH Network subscribers in 19 small to mid-size cities in the Eastern half of the United States. As a precaution, affected services were restored on back-up satellites throughout the day. The local channels and almost all other services were restored by Sunday afternoon. An investigation into the cause of the anomaly is ongoing.
