I think a LOT more DN customers would switch if D* redid the GUI. Maybe, make it look like the 922 on E*.

all I hope is that they up its resolution NOT change it; it serves it's purpose and works well. If the GUI is the worry then they don't need to switch IMHO.

I agree charper

compared to the horrible Crapcast guide I saw the other day Directv's look damn good :)

The comparison is between E* and D*.

and your point is??? I was making a point that the D* guide really isnt that bad compared to others. I've seen the Dish guide on a 625 and both D* and E* have their pros and cons of the guide

again see what charper wrote

Why does everyone worry about what DISH does, last I checked, they were mostly coming over to D*, not the other way around.

I agree, up the resolution and leave it alone, it works fine.

i would also like to see our GUI upgraded to take advantage of the HD graphics the box is capable of displaying.

I have windows 3.1 on an old laptop. It works fine. That doesn't mean I prefer its GUI over Snow Leopard, Gnome 3.0 or Windows 7 - nor is it as functional. I think all content providers should be continually working on enhancing the end user experience and the GUI is an essential part of that experience.

The current GUI works fine, but could definitely be improved upon. Up-resing the fonts would be a good start.

That out of the way, I personally don't know anyone who has ever said, "I switched to X provider because they had a better GUI."

The GUI is the window dressing...

the D* guide contains soooo much more info then the E*, maybe E* should work on adding more info and not worry about looks as much

I think the GUI is fine, but hey if they ever fresh it up a bit that would be fine I guess, not a huge issue since its on for about two seconds or so

Yeah, this is my opinion on it as well.
I spend so little time looking at the guide, they could actually make it black and white and with polkadots and I wouldnt mind much.

yeah i bet you would like polkadots on there wouldn't you??? :haha

The guide works fine for me. It shows what is coming up, if its in HD and if I hit info it gives me more info than a E* guide does

what else do you want it to do? Read your mind?

now that would be great! can they do that?
i just think something and that channel comes on

oh wait, then i would have to explain to the wife why its always changing to THOSE channels

I agree as a whole it offers much more information than E* and has a more intuitive recording system to boot. Everything is better, except I have not adjusted to the "reduced visibility."

I like to bring up the guide and then go from channel 2 all the way through channel XYZ and see exactly what is on and what is coming up over the next few hours. Being there is no way to reduce the font size to get more information on the screen, it a bit clunky as far as how I personally use the guide as I have to do a lot more button pushing to get the same results. Kind of like looking at the E* guide through a straw. It is a minor quibble...

Like I said in another post, I just use the online guide as it shows more channels at a time across more hours (actually the perfect GUI as far as I am concerned) and also gives me the advantage of choosing the DVR I want to use to record a given program, which is a plus.

The guide is fine to me. I would enjoy a larger browse pop-up, at least large enough to show the full titles of shows.

I don't know why those with a certain provider protect them so much. My point is if you ask a customer whom has had neither, which is better I bet most wold say E*. I bet CNET, Engadet, Gizmodo all review the 922 guide favorably.

I thought this was the Direct forum. When did Direct get the 922?:)
