North Carolina received a formal Notice of Allegations from the NCAA on Tuesday and the potential major violations outlined add up to one of the widest-ranging scandals in recent college football history.

Charges of academic fraud, unethical dealings between assistant coaches and NFL player agents and failure to monitor players’ off-field activities highlight the allegations. UNC has 90 days to respond to the allegations. Then, officials will attend a hearing in Indianapolis with the NCAA Committee on Infractions on Oct. 28 to give their account of the issues. The NCAA then would determine what sanctions the Tar Heels’ program would incur.

Wow! Suddenly, the scandal of Ohio State players "trading autographs for tattoo's" pales in comparison! Academic fraud?! Assistant Coach in cahoots with an NFL agent?! Wow.

It does pale in some of the allegations but two things both have in common and that is lack of control of the players and dealings with outside non-college folks... I.E., agents and boosters. It is time to develope some kind of fine/charge/penalty for these boosters and agents to make them stay away.

fair or not ohio state will continue to get most of the attention. most don't seem to care about this news. NC WHO????????? ;)

Goes to show you that it's not the violations that cause all the public attention (both in the media and here on Sat Guys forums), but it's the school (and hate) associated.

They are the bigger more successful program. IF it was Ohio University, it would not get the same coverage. Ohio State and Michigan are one the more popular/famous schools in the midwest and US when it comes to college sports.

Are there any UNC football fans here? That's probably why there hasn't been much talk about it.

As for hate, throw that book at all the cheaters, whether it be USC, UNC, or OSU.

Yeah, they look just like Kentucky fans, sitting around waiting for hoops. ;)

LOL yeah perhaps Kentucky should join the ACC, where football is just something most people ignore until basketball season starts!

You, Jimbo and Yaz with your holier than thou attitude towards Ohio State have caused this, you have no one to blame but yourselves. You could all take a cue from Sandra.

When I was growing up, we always said that the ACC & SEC should trade Ga Tech & Clempson for Kentucky & Vanderbilt, that way they schools whould better fit in.
