Wings find a Defensemen, Mike Commodore, I don't know too much about him other than he's won a SC and played for Columbus who didn't want him any longer ....

Wings also re sign Eaves and Erricson

Good luck with commie. He sure did not fit in Columbus and had issues with the coaches. Spent half of last year in the minors due to his attitude.

Many times that changes when you get in with a perennial Playoff team, Wings have had many questionable players (attitude) and worked fine as they work for the goal of the SC !

Read that he had a few words for Babcock when he was in minors for anehim. He said that was under the bridge. While I would not say Babcock is Scotty bowmen. They run there teams very similar

I saw that too ... thing is, that was about 10 years ago, also I'm sure that Babcock was in on the deal, particularly if they had issues prior.

I'm like you...I don't know much about this guy, but I'm hopeful that we can make him a productive part of the lineup. We shall see.

While the Sabres made some good moves, and I welcome Kotalik back, best off season move by the Sabres IMO is the purchase of the Rochester Americans. It will be great having the Amerks back as the farm team and having a stronger hockey bond between both cities.

Columbus also added defenseman James Wisniewski for a 5th round draft pick. This was a huge pickup on the blue line for the Jackets.

So far I would give the Blue Jackets off season a B+ and a A+++ for effort compared to the last couple seasons. I love that they have realized that they can not keep building the team from the draft and they went out and picked up a couple of big names. They now need to pick up one more defenseman either through free agency (pretty dry now) or trade for one more. I sure wish they could have kept Hejda but he received more than what is was worth.

Yes the Blue Jackets look like that may be a team that will contend for a change. Perhaps they have finally awaken from their funk. I hope the fans support their efforts.:)

There is a different buzz going around this year. I know many people that can't wait for the season to start and they have been a disappearing fan over the past few years. I sure hope that the seats become filled this coming year. I know, I have done my part with my ticket purchases for this coming season. :)

I know this is not an off season move but I just love Steve Mason's new helmet.

Red Wings Chris (Ozzie) Osgood officially retired today.

Class guy, hopefully he'll move into another role with the Wings !

Agreed. I'm glad he decided to hang up his skates instead of attempting another injury-filled season. Ozzie was an excellent player (often underrated) and really good teammate who will be missed. I sure hope he finds a place in the Red Wings organization.

They said something on the news about him helping the goalies in the system ... (coaching ?).

Also, it's been mentioned several times recently that they may sign Ty Conklin to back up Howard.
