Heck they even talked about it on sattalk the other night
I haven't tuned in to that show in a long time and miss it. I use to be on the show regularly then my dad got sick and I left to take care of him.

When we get the new server in September I do want to ask Ralph if he wants to archive his shows here on our server and also open up a SatTalk forum here dedicated to discussion of his show.

That is on my to-do list. :)

BTW if there is enough interest in this receiver I would be happy to open a Manhattan forum just like we did for the AZbox.

A Manhattan forum would be nice. I believe the receiver will do very well in the near future.

I think a Manhattan forum would be a good idea. Perhaps an SSO forum as well, to contain posts in certain areas. These 2 newer receivers, with the AZbox , are the most modern stb's available, and there'll be a lot of interest.

Not yet Pixl. Latest firmware is dated.... 11th? of july I think... Can't remember off hand.... Another re-write is comming addressing a few issues along with that one. It is in the works. What order will get done is anyones guess as many times one thing gets fixed and another breaks. None the less, it is being addressed.

Stone,

You seem to be on the inside know of the Manhattan. Might I ask what your connection is.
thanks

I have a feature request for the Openbox and the Manhattan that has been brought up many times but has not been fixed, well changed.

When you hit ok and left or right to go look for a channel the dish takes off moving. It would be very nice to be able to browse from say AMC 3 to AMC1 without the dish moving until you select a channel by hitting ok.

As for the Sub forums for each receiver, I have wondered what with all the misinformation, good info, tips, and oodles of setup possibilities why there was not already one! Great Idea!

No connection. Just a guy that has been around and was lucky enough to get my hands on a receiver to play with and evaluate like a few others have. I am honored to of been considered to help with the effort. I am just fortunate to be with some old friends that I have made over the years a from different forums that allowed me an opportunity.

Been discussed.... There are enough people already in the process of nailing down issues for the Manhattan. Many things that I have read have been discussed. Let the fixes roll out then see what goes from there. :) Have a great day!

The AZbox family of multi-purpose FTA receivers (media players, linux OS, et al) benefited from a forum section, as do PCI/USB cards.
The S9/S10 are just regular receivers, not much more complex than an old school FTA box.

Considering the Manhattan (more in league with the S9/S10) for a forum section, seems unnecessary.
And considering the state of it, premature.
This one thread serves well, for supplying info and updates.

I can see need of a proper review (or several), but beyond that, it's just another receiver like the Coolsat 6000.

Anole I agree with you. There are not enough posts about the Manhattan yet to warrent its own forum, but if talk picks up more about it then I have no problem opening one. :)

I just plugged in my Manhattan receiver about 2 hours ago. I've been playing with it a bit doing some blind scans of different C-Band birds. So far, I've been quite impressed at how quickly the unit can do blind scans. I am going to give it a try with the motorized Ku dish shortly. I'll post my findings in the next day or two.

Remember if you use a 22khz switch, that setting is being addressed at this time as it won't work. Other than that, make sure you have the latest firmware loaded. Have a great day!

This used to annoy me too until I discovered what is not so much a work around, but just a procedure.

When you are on one sat and wish to go to a channel on another sat press the "ZOOM" button which has been re-defined as the "SAT" list. Navigate to your new sat and select. Only then at this point will the motor take off to the new location. When it arrives there it will be on the last ch you watched on that sat. This also works on the Manhattan except you use the "SIZE" button as the zoom button actually zooms the picture. EASY!

Look for yourself. Unless you are running a different software version than I am, You cannot use a motor and a switch(universal settings excluded).
To check this, press the menu button on the remote. Then go to Installation--->Antenna Connection.
Select Motor Antenna.
Exit back to "Installation" and select "Antenna Setup".
There are no provisions for a motor and a switch. See attached photo.

Now let me clear something up.
I am not here to bash the Manhattan or put the receiver down in any way but people are thinking about buying it. They ask questions, and I tell them what I honestly know about it.
IMO, it is better to inform people before they buy than to have them pissed off after they buy. GregH

Ok Greg,
I just got home and checked your steps.
Cough, cough. You are right , I was wrrroooonn... can't quite say it, but you know what I mean.

Where should I get the latest firmware? I did a couple of searches online myself, hunting around the Skyvision site and a couple others, but haven't found it. I'd like to do the review with the latest firmware. I've found a couple of slightly irritating items about the current firmware and would like to see if they are fixed in a newer version.

So far, the Manhattan receiver has met my expectations. A receiver that will blind scan DVB-S2, and will also get AAC audio were what I was looking for. The Manhattan has delivered on both of those.
