Yep, good old Phil Coke manages to screw the team coming and going. I sound like a broken record....Penny, Coke....Penny, Coke....Penny, Coke. Ugh! Well, hopefully we can get another run or two in the late innings. :)

Leyland blew this one. There is just no LOGICAL explanation as to why you pull Porcello after 82 pitches. He'll guillen and betimit blew that inning.

Man the local media people here are going nuts on twitter about that Porcello move. Then on the other hand they say we cannot ask him about it without getting their heads bitten off. Nice to see Leyland making friends. Media really doesn't like him here

I think a few of the media have made it miserable for the rest ...

I have nothing against Leyland, but he needs to bring home the Division title. We've made a habit of fading-fast after the All-Star break. After adding Fister we have more than enough bat-power and arm-power to win the division...just need to sit Coke and Penny.

BTW, that was a monster HR by Avila!!!

I don't really have a problem with the extension. I don't think either of them are the greatest in the league or anything like that but I think they are above average.

I like the Fister trade and no one could be unhappy with Peralta and Martinez this year. Now that we cut Purcey we ended up trading away Sizemore for nothing but I think overall Dombrowski has done a good job.

As for Leyland, He does some questionable things and we have blew it in the 2nd half the last few years for sure. Think about where the Tigers were before we got him though. We went from being long time basement dwellers to contending for the division every season.

Liked what they did after they got here...just haven't been too keen on their performance the past 3-4 seasons. Along the way they've had the 5th largest payroll in baseball (certainly the highest in the AL Central) yet they have failed to win a single division title. In other words, compiling a 329-320 record and not winning any division titles nor making the playoffs with the MLB's 5th largest payroll IS NOT my definition of winning. Perhaps in Charlie Sheen's world, but not mine. Just saying...

This year the Tigers have niether the 5th ranked payroll in MLB, nor the highest in the AL Central. From USA Today:

5th Chicago White Sox $ 127,789,000

9th Minnesota Twins $ 112,737,000

10th Detroit Tigers $ 105,700,231

What about the Indians? You know, the team that has a measly $ 49,190,566 team payroll. Only the Rays and Royals have a lower payroll in the AL. To me, THAT is much more significant. We've held 1st place in this division through the whole season until recently. Can you imagine what we could do with a salary DOUBLE that like our other counterparts in the division?!

For those that are having baseball withdrawls...
