Los Angeles City Council Approves Financing For $1.2 Billion NFL Stadium

And how many do you know in Toronto? or Seattle? or Portland? or Vancouver?

Actually, from a couple of games I have seen of MLS, soccer is supported better in Seattle than any other city in the US.

The truth is, MLS is on the verge of overtaking the NHL as the fourth-most popular professional sports league in the United States – if it hasn’t already.

In 2010, MLS average attendance was 16,675 spectators per game, a 4 percent increase over 2009. The NHL drew an average of 17,072 fans per game last season, a 3 percent drop from the year prior.

Among the largest crowds, the Seattle Sounders’ average of 36,173 MLS fans a game dwarfed the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks, who drew an average 21,353 fans. The L.A. Galaxy also surpassed that figure, averaging 21,437. As MLS stadiums continue to expand and as the league continues to grow, so too should the league’s attendance numbers.

I would be surprised if Buffalo moves just because I always thought Buffalo had a loyal, passionate fan base. I would think Jacksonville would move. Didnt they have trouble selling out there games last year?

or LA, even. See the attendance, they are 2nd on the list.

And I think you were talking about Hispanic folks, weren't you? Supporting Mexico.

Even being second is still way below that of other sports. MLS is simply not talked about.

The LA Galaxy average attendance is above the average attendance of every single NBA and NHL team. Which also means Seattle has higher attendance as well.

Now, of course that has nothing to do with what you and your acquaintances talk about.

We've derailed this thread enough. We can talk about MLS in the other thread. http://www.satelliteguys.us/sports-section/263102-mls-about-take-over-nhl-average.html

Since the only justification for LA to have an NFL team is the size of the television market, I think that they should go after the smallest market team.

Introducing the Los Angeles Packers!
;)

LOL! Wouldn't it piss off Minnesotians(is that what they are called?) to all end if they would ALSO steal their football team too?? I mean the Lakers DID come from Minnesota.

I just don't understand why they can't just renovate & modernize the Metrodome. They can install a retractable roof on the Metrodome just like Vancouver did with BC Place. they can play in TCF Stadium until the renovation is completed. When they repaired the torn roof,THAT was the perfect opportunity to install a retractable roof. I just don't understand the arrogance of the NFL & its owners in wanting brand spanking new stadiums in our very bad economy.

Will never happen. The current ownership structure prevents them from ever leaving. And if the team were ever sold, all proceeds have to go to charity, so there is no incentive to ever sell.

I think they are run by the cheapest owners in the NFL.

I think based on size Los Angeles should have an NFL team. I will say that the NFL is huge so they really dont need LA. I mean its not like the NFL is struggling right now.

In MY opinion, LA has had teams off and on and they come and go .... I say, keep the NFL out of LA, they don't need it and don't have the time for it..... thats the excuse they give , isn't it, we have sooooooo many other things to do out here, we can't support them.

This might sound really really stupid but if the NFL gets an LA team, why cant they play at either the Rose Bowl or the LA Coliseum for now until they build a new stadium. I mean if they dont have a team because they cant build a new stadium, problem solved.

I mean didnt the Titans play in a college football stadium until they got there new stadium? Same goes for the Seahawks. Didnt they play at Husky Stadium until they started playing at Quest Field?

I really believe they should build two stadiums,Farmers Field next to the Staples Center,& New Los Angeles Stadium in Industry,California. Then, the Buffalo Bills,Jacksonville Jaguars,Minnesota Vikings,& San Diego Chargers should ALL move to Los Angeles with 2 teams each sharing both stadiums. Of course I'm kidding.

The Titans played in Memphis the first year.
