Tonight I tried my luck on putting a Primestar 74e dish on 99W. I can pull in the russian mux at 44%, but everything else is a bust. There are some that scan in as PSTN but they are around 32% and choppy. Cant get the NASA, AGHAPY, or CBS stuff. Was out for a few hours working on getting the angle and everything peaked, but it just doesnt scan in on it.

I do have a 30" round dish with a .2 nose DB lnb on it, would that be a better choice then the primestar with stock lnb?

If I'm not mistaken, and I probably am, the stock lnb is single polarity.
I use an 84e motored with a standard lnb and love it! It was even successful as a mini-bud!

Forgot to mention is going through a 2x4 switch, had a 3x4 but it was bad.

Went out and swapped 13 and 18V polarities, no go. Maybe skew is off afterall, or perhaps sat is just weak on those?

The original LNB's for Prime star are just to noisy. Get a newer LNBF and mount it in the prime center position. I use one as a dish on Dish Net using a dish LNBF. It works great there. So it isn't the dish so much as you new newer lower noise LNBF. The noise factor on those LNB's is like 2.5 where as you can buy .2 LNBFs now.

Some of those channels on 99w ku seem to be a little weak lately, but those PSTN channels usually hit 99% for my 1m dishes.
Not familiar with a russian mux on that satellite though. Maybe you just need to tweak the focal distance of the new lnbf, and/ or the skew of the lnbf. Or skew of the dish, if that's how they adjust for skew.

The Russian mux is S2 and scrambled (some of the radio channels scan as clear at the moment, but they don't play anything for me), but it's a powerhouse -- one of the strongest S2 transponders I've seen on a non-DBS satellite.

Yep kinda thought about the dish itself, think i'll swap it with the round 30" with newer lnb and see what happens. The 1.2 meter is at 72W since that has been the only one I can get to point over there. Seems when putting the posts in, I didnt give too much room if I wanted to put them to a more east satellite. DOH!

Aghapy seems to have gone bye bye. The only channel I'm getting is a black screen "scopus net tecH" which is 12178 v 4160.

Nasa disappeared sometime after sunday night.

anyone has tried again?? What else is there?? Can you give me the TP's that are actually working?? Thanks

sorry but I disagree. I've used those stock Primestar LNB's and they work just fine. They are designed for those dishes whereas most after market LNB's it sits a little higher and can affect reception. The noise level on those are .9 but honestly it doesnt mean anything. Most noise numbers are fabricated. I've seen the Primestar one beat supposed ".3" ones

Companies will put anything on a box to sell it. Like "blind scan" when it doesnt have it ;)

Got it better, it was mis-skewed at the lnb. Now the PSTN is strong, nasa is enough for a lock, but the DC and NYC skylines are pixelated badly.

Is there anything actually on there worth throwing something like a 1.2 meter at? I have it parked at the NBC mux but may move it if its worth it. I do enjoy feeds so it could be "persuaded" if there is a lot on there like 91W

How active are the newspath feeds?

Thanks for the inputs, can you please give me the the Tps info even the ones with problems??????
I'll like to give a try overhere in the carribean, Thanks!!!

I just ended up putting the 1.2M dish there, solved everything. Threw the 74e at 72W and it works great.

Now for 74W.............

You have to modify the LNB holder to get them in the correct location. The LNB's I've removed were clearly labeled 2.5 db. The noise figure of most LNB's are the best it can do at any of the freq range it operates at and so they will take a small peak in the freq range and post that.

How do the Primestar lnb's compare to the Dish Network FSS lnb's that were used for 105 and 121? How do the Dish Network FSS lnb's compare to the new lnb's available today?

I'm using a Dish FSS bandstacked LNB made by Eagle Aspen on my 1 meter CM at 125W. I get everything with good quality on the Openbox (even the S2 stuff), so I'd say the LNB is at least comparable to others on the market.
