I was sort of pushing for that trade. His style of play and the fact that the Raiders didnt need a "gun slinger", just hand off to our bread and butter, McFadden, was what I was looking for.

Like I said, after this year and next year, then I will give my opinion. Because HueJax has drastically improved this team, I will sip from the kool-aid for now.

Palmer or Orton ...
I would take Palmer, wouldn't you ?

In Oakland, they Need someone that can throw it down field ... the Davis way ...

I was pushing the Orton trade because I knew that the Raiders would be risking a boat load for Palmer. Truth be told, I never knew they would go that aggressively after Palmer. IMHO, HueJax may been keeping tabs on Palmer's conditioning and workouts....eventhough that's a no-no. Also, after listening to HueJax presser yesterday, the Raiders were gonna make a play for Palmer at season's end...but with Campbell's possible season ending injury, that just pushed up the time table.

And someone covered with stickum to catch it, the Fred Billetnikoff way.

Ah, those were the days. He used to keep globs of the stuff on his socks, so he had it when needed....

The 2013 2nd round pick for Palmer becomes a 1st if the Raiders win a playoff game this year... which is obviously the goal. This is probably a 2-3 year window and then it will be up to their free agency moves and amazing drafts to prevent the team from a pretty steep drop down to where they've been for the last several years if not lower.

Or next year.

Here is the ultimate set-up...heard yesterday and read this morning... Mangini is a "very close friend" to the Dolphins owner Ross.

Lol...after they strike out witg Cower, Titans former head coach... Mangini?!

I think the Raiders trading for Palmer makes some sense:

1. Can they really go to battle with Kyle Boller and win? Boller would have been a very small bandaid on a very deep wound. Every team would put 9 in the box and force Boller to beat them. NOT gonna win many games that way.

2. You have to take a chance and not just stand pat: sometimes, you have to dump the attractive girl to go for the hot babe. PERFECT analogy!

3. Those 1st round picks are not gonna guarantee you get a future superstar. Yeah...the "half full" side of me says you are absolutely right. The "half empty" side says 'are you crazy, do you know how much it would have helped?!' ...

No more baby steps after yesterday's blockbuster trade...they are throwing the long bomb towards a Super Bowl.:D

You and me BOTH. And eventhough "Chuckie" signed an extention...don't think for one moment that John Gruden is still not in play.
i'd rather take these guys who have been out of football for awhile like chuckie or cowher before mangini any day. i can't imagine why anyone would give mangini another shot. no one with the right football knowledge of course :D

I never like when the owner and the player is too buddy-buddy. SOMETHING bad always happens. I remember when Wayne and Dan Marino became buddy-budy. Here he thought life was good until they brought in Jimmy Johnson. He wanted to get rid of Marino so bad that I think if their relationship had not soured to badly, Jimmy might have been able to get more out of him his final couple of years.

When I lived in Chicago, it was the same between Mike McCaskey and Jim Harbaugh(the 49ers current coach). The fans and Ditka HATED that they ate alot and worked out in the same 'country club' and played golf together. It cause alot of unneeded communication problems between Ditka and Harbaugh.

Oh boy, the down side of "suck for Luck". According to PFT, there is rumors that Andrew Luck may pull an Eli Manning/John Elway move and refuse to go to certain teams.

I never understood the Mangini hatred. I actually really liked his philosophy as a coach. He's not a good talent evaluator by any means, so he'll have to be paired with a good GM, but he IS a very good coach!
