I have used orbetron,among a few others brands
I was kinda shocked to see Sami is out of buiness,glad I bought a few extras
for my 10 footer
before they went belly up.Not sure if anyone makes affordable dishs anymore..............TT

That IS bad news>wasn't aware of that, their website is completely gone. I'll have to baby my 10' then, might be tough to find another one like it.

When all the low cost C band dish manufacturers are gone we'll have no choice but to sub to the pizza outfits. I don't know about you but I can't afford to buy a commercial grade 10 foot (or larger) dish. I was just looking at Prodelins and there's no way I'll pay that much for a dish when it comes time to replace my dish (due to hail or tornados or whatever).

Without knowing why they are out of business, it would be a stretch to connect that to the pizza industry..with the business climate we have right now, we probably shouldn't be shocked that a business has failed. Maybe they got bought out, or just weren't selling enough samis.

Who said they "failed"? I don't think they failed in producing a quality "Made in America" product. AFAIK they are just ceasing doing business (producing and selling dishes). Without knowing the specifics, maybe it's just that the "golden days" (in that field) are over and it's just time to move on? All I want to say it "thank you" for being an American producer of a quality, prized, American made product for as long as you have. Best wishes in your future endeavors.

I think with the economy blowing (sucks}
Nobody buying 10 - 12 foot dishes anymore(except some of us in the hobby}
Sami only made dishs so it looks like they are out of business(I went to a few of my Distributors
and NONE have Sami anymore}
Just looked at my 10 foot Sami 2 days ago and it looks good for the winter(Now I have to make sureI put a tad of WD40 on the bolts for the Winter}........TT

There's still a few places that sell big dish stuff. I bookmarked one from one of the members from the C-band section but now I can't find that thread.

Nonsense and conspiracy therory!

C-band dish and parts are available at prices that are lower than ever! Interest in C-band appears to be on the increase. Inexpensive panel dishes are cents on the dollar compared to 10 - 15 years ago. Many sources for mid-level dishes. Have you ever checked out the Anderson dishes out of Idaho? Great product a reasonable prices and several levels of products.

Why would Sami leave the satellite business? There is a decreasing demand in their consumer market. Just ask around this site and you will get a sense of what is going on with their market. Who has purchased a new dish in the last year? Who has harvested a free (or near to it) used dish? Who purchased an inexpensive basic imported panel dish?

Who purchased a new Sami?

Good points, SatAV. My 10'SAMI was given to me , when it was less than a yr old, still shiny and new. Yes-got lucky, a friend was moving from the country to the city, and couldn't take it with him. I hope nobody misunderstood me, when I said the business failed, I only meant 'failed to continue to operate', not that they failed in delivering a quality product. I searched the net last night for grins, and found several places still advertising SAMI dishes, replacement panels and other parts, but those were usuallly marked as 'existing stock' or 'quantities limited' ads.

holy **** I didn't even know about the place in idaho falls. Like 60 miles from me. Wonder what there prices are like. TTFN, Josh

I purchased a 12' KTI less than 2 years ago that cost $2000. That is a LOT more than the 12' Paraclipse that I bought prior to that. And the Paraclipse was a better built antenna. Too bad I can't get new mesh for the Paraclipse at a reasonable cost. And now it looks like I won't be able to get replacement factory made mesh for the KTI. I haven't checked out Anderson but the bottom line is that dishes are more expensive and not as well built as they once were (at least not the consumer grade dishes). My KTI has already sustained some minor hail damage this summer. If the hail had been more severe the arms and mesh would have to be replaced (which, of course won't be available).

I never said you cound not buy parts for Sami,Maybe you guys know where?But glad I bought a few Bolts from
them before they went out of business.
I was saying that Sami does not have a website anymore and
all my Distributors don't stock them anymore.
Yes I know many places that still sell C and KU band stuff but Most don't stock dishs anymore.
Geeee I think I bought my Sami 10 footer for around $500 New about 7 years ago.But I do
think very few will want a 10 footer(most ask me do I still pick things up on it lol}.......TT

This is bad news. If a hurricane destroys my dish I would rather stand in front of a
firing squad than watch Dish. It sucks IMHO.

Their are so many free dish's out their drive around in the country stop when you see one. Ring the bell ask if you can have it if they say no or want money tell them to have a nice day.

Repeat until u get one.

The worst thing someone can say is no. If that's the case no big deal just move on.

All the used one's I've seen around here are hail damaged. Some were bent somehow. If you want DVB-S2 reception you'll need a perfect dish or near-perfect. I still get DVB-S2 with the minor hail damage on my KTI but only get DVB-S on my severely hail damaged Paraclipse. I don't know what I'll do if my KTI becomes severely damaged. The only thing that would survive a major hail storm is the hub and actuator. My KTI cost over $2000 with shipping charges. Having the local fabrication shops make replacement panels for my Paraclipse would be around $1500. It doesn't look promising to find a used/undamaged dish around here. So, I may go from a 12 footer to a 10 footer but that'll depend on the cost for a new dish.

I agree there are many 10 and 12 foot dishs if you want to drive atads.
Yes some folks might want a few dollars and it might still be worth it.
Better then having to spend $1500 - $2000 for a new dish......
Most of us were ahead of the time when we bought these in the mid to late 80s.
And I think we are still ahead of most that don't have a clue what a 10 foot dish can do......TT

I thought this would be a good thread to share this parts list with everyone in since no one will be able to contact SAMI anymore to get this information.
