I don't see what the NCAA can do about this .and those who know what they're talking about say "nothing".

NCAA can't do anything, it's a legal matter handled by the DA and police.

It's sad that you are still trying to use the terrible events at Penn State to make you feel better about what tOSU did.

tOSU broke NCAA rules, got caught, and faced the punishments handed down by the NCAA. What NCAA rules were violated that would cause what happened at Penn State to be under their jurisdiction??
(Hint: None. If found guilty, those involved will wish it was as simple as serving a 5-game suspension.)

Salsa already answered this, but your not chastising him ... It's called "Institutional Control".

Post 21 and several others ....

Don't make this about ME.

I didn't make it about you and your OSU, you did. Go back and look at post #8 and post #10 of this thread.

BTW - this "Institutional Control" you like to throw around is in itself not an NCAA violation, it's what is ruled by the NCAA when NCAA violations occur. So, I'll ask again: What NCAA rules were violated that would cause what happened at Penn State to be under their jurisdiction??

Exactly. And what would be the point of the NCAA stepping in, even if they could? It would be like having the company CFO go to prison for sexual impropriety, then have the BBB file suit to shut the company down. Makes no sense.

For crying out loud, can you OSU blowhards please shut up about NCAA violations? It's just so amazingly off base.

JoePa should resign immediately. End of story. To believe that he was without knowledge of anything going on in the PSU AD is just so naive, it's astounding.

IF he was younger and not so noteworthy, he would possibly doing time.

I've wanted to avoid this entire thread and subject because it's so reprehensibly disgusting it turns my stomach...but I know I shouldn't. It's people turning a blind eye to these kind of things that allow them to continue.

I have a whole bunch of nieces and nephews of various ages, and God willing hope to have a future family of my own. I truly believe the light needs to be shined brightly on this...and if the light had shined in 1998, perhaps Sandusky would not be headed to prison right now...and more importantly perhaps a whole bunch of kids would have been spared this horrific and heinous man.

This whole story moves me to tears...mostly because at the time, protecting ADULTS was deemed more important than protecting the KIDS.

yeah, but at point did John Wooden have someone inform him of one of his own coaches be a child molester? I doubt it.

No, but when any of his east coast urban players were down in the dumps, because they were broke or felt out of place or their girlfriends were pregnant, he would arrange to have them meet with an alumini/volunteer counselor named Sam Gilbert who would imbue them with wisdom to make them feel better...

As the father of an 18 year old daughter, I want to thank you for articulating MY feelings on this matter! I don't give a flippin' dung about other universities penalties for their "violations". This is real life *hit that's beyond evil.

To be honest, the last thing I want to read about (for the 5,987th time in this forum) is how Ohio St. got screwed over. What I'd like to read is how this evil POS is going down!

BTW Sandra, kudos on a post for the ages!

Just read the grand jury report on sandusky .I wish i would've never read that :(
I was amazed the people who saw this guy doing this and said nothing to protect their own hides.we're the adults.we are suppose to be taking care of our kids.protecting them from things like this. I see that and I don't know if this guy leaves that room alive.I'm speechless!

This can't help either...
Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, who has been indicted on charges of sexually abusing eight boys over 15 years, had access to the team's weight room as recently as last week, according to reports.

The report came just hours before coach Joe Paterno was scheduled to hold his first news conference since his former protege was arrested Saturday on 40 criminal counts of child sex abuse. The news conference was abruptly canceled by the university Tuesday.
