Our FTA items get lost among the household items, baby carrages, Dish and DTV stuff. Here it would get more attention and not overlooked where it is now.
I would keep classified for sale posts limited to supporting Pub Members. But items offered for free be posted by anyone.

No plans to, and I don't think I have ever seen household items and baby carriages listed in our classifieds section.

Scott,

I'm not asking about your plans. I'm asking you to consider it.
Right now just on the first page there are several cell phones and even home phones listed . Some sort of leather case, somebody selling coins, cordless headphones, a cpu processor, an ancient rca video disc player. I realize that the Dish and DTV people VASTLY outnumber us FTA people, and that group may be mildly interested in things that plug in.

Classified FTA with the traffic your site can produce is right here, no where else in these numbers.

The classified section is in the hometown area...just scroll down the page a bit

In all honesty we have been very lenient on classifieds by non-pub members here in the FTA area. Most other sites wouold kill the post and probably warn the person posting it. We have allowed some free items to be posted by non-pub members but where is the line drawn on non-pub members posting classifieds?
I've allowed craigslist ads for C-Band stuff because its stuff we find but folks who register and make 1 post about a C-Band dish they want to sell/get rid of cheap etc are those allowed? That kinda defeats the one (of many) perks of a pub member.

Ironically on the 1st page of classifieds...a 1/3 of them are FTA related (11 out of 30 threads) ;)

I know when we had the Ebay classifieds stuff there was a major glitch with that and we started getting other stuff in it (that was automated)

Based on a suggestion by rv1pop I have moved the Calssifieds Section up in the forum listings to be listed under the Pub Members forum. It's not burried anymore!

I should also add that I do not have a problem AT ALL with anyone posting ads here in the FTA section for FREE equipment / dishes they are giving away.

No problem, we aim to please. :)

Also the Ebay feeds that Iceberg spoke about before are long gone, but they were never part of the classifieds section. :)

I didn't have any trouble finding it before, but now the look of the whole place is confusing me.... at least the mobile app is.

We have moved some forums around as we are working with a number of companies to provide OFFICIAL SUPPORT for their services, so one of the big moves is all the satellite service, cable companies and IPTV have been grouped together. This way people needing support with these companies can more easily find the support they need.

It will take some getting use to but this lineup now makes much better sense when you look at the big picture. :D

I never look in the Classified department, normally.
What draws me there, is when a Pub member puts a (subtle) comment in their signature.
Iceberg and Linuxman (to name a few) have done that in the past, and it's worked well.

The existing policy of posting Freebies, along with Craig List info on BUDs (the most common) in FTA, are a great service to the membership.
Glad to hear there won't be any change. That works well.

So, I don't see any reason to make any changes. - :up

Christmas lizard already?? You're getting as bad as the stores!

Hey, I waited 'till after Pumpkin Day.!. - ;)
Couldn't wait no longer.

At least ya know what to expect from me.
I never know which cutie you're sportin'.
Maybe take a leaf outta Turbosat's book, and update yer signature to explain each avatar. :)

One of the reasons people are drawn to fta is because there are no fees. You have to pay one time costs for dishes and receivers but that's it. I'd probably pay for a one time only cost to post in the "FTA classifieds section" though (fta pub light).
