With the latest software update, Dish Network screwed me up. I connect both my receivers to antennas. I am using a Tivo to record off the 222. It is an older Tivo unit, that only tunes into analog stations. So, when it uses the IR blasters to change channels, it only goes to 008. Before the software update, the 222 would automatically switch to 8.1 (my PBS channel here in Houston). Now, there is no option (that I can find/see) that keeps those satellite channels from the single and double digits. When I wanted to watch locals off the satellite (which was never), they were/are in the 8000s. Is there anyway to get rid of the satellite channels from the single/double digits? I do not want to use the timer function on the receiver. I already use it to turn the receiver on at 4am, after overnight updates are complete. I wouldn't mind reverting back to the prior software, as I had no problems with it.

If you go to menu-6-9-chan display, you should be able to disable to local sat channels. I believe this will make the satellite local channels show in the 6000/8000 channel range, but no longer in the single/double digit range

Can't seem to find that option on the 222 nor the 211. Was it moved elsewhere on the unit?

not on the 211k.....no option for that. Didnt see it in any of the menu options (6-8 is where to add locals then it goes to 0 back out)

because most folks would like their locals to be at the mapdown spot and not at 7574 as example ;)

Can you lock out say 8.0 and hide it (I know you can hide locked channels so they dont show in the guide)? Then it should change to 8.1

one question.....your PBS is in HD on Dish so does it matter if it records the OTA or the sat channel?
Its not like on the 211 where you can record one OTA and one sat tuner at same time

I just wish locking and hiding channels would keep them from being searched in a Dish Pass timer...

I am not "most folks." I like to have a choice whether I want to access my sat locals in the single and double digits or the 8000s. ;)

I've tried to lock out channel 8.0, it doesn't work. It won't show in the guide, but when the tivo tunes to 008, the receiver automatically tunes to the satellite channel. I may just have to remove locals from our account, since I get them from the antenna - which is more reliable during inclement weather.

If the channel is locked out and hidden it should go to the next channel in the guide.

also you cant remove locals form the account. Locals are included and you must take them.

But why dont you just record the sat version since its in HD?

Maybe I am locking them out incorrectly? I created a list, and made sure the sat locals were not visible. Yet, when the tivo tunes into a certain channel, it goes straight to a sat local.

When did this take place? Now, leaving Dish Network becomes even more appealing. And, I wouldn't go to any competitors - just rely on locals, Netflix, Hulu, et cetera. They keep taking away options.

Two reasons. One, I already stated. OTA is a lot more reliable than satellite, especially here when we get heavy rain. Number 2, is that I can see the difference in quality between the compressed locals satellite provides vs. OTA. Those two reasons are enough that I want to record off the antenna and not the satellite.

go into locks and select the channels to lock out. Then you have to "hide locked" and make a password to lock the reciever

a while. I think it was in February with the price increase or maybe it was when Dish got all the local markets on satellite. (June 2010)

I didnt see any reason posted but I guess those are valid reasons :)
