So how about John Elway publicly dissing Tebow, saying he's not sure if Tebow is the answer at QB for the Broncos. I mean...what the heck, I get why Elway may think that...but why would he feel the need to actually SAY it right now?

Not only is Elway in charge of the Broncos, he also has God-like status in Denver in the QB world.
I just don't get it. Tebow could not be in a worse position as a starting QB...he was put in a position to fail, and so far he's succeeding. Gotta hand it to the guy.

Sandra

Not as much as you think. They were talking about that this morning and he is getting quite the hate in blogs because of the Broncos fans love for Tebow AND the fact that Elway has gone out of his way to trade away any possible weapon you can use to improve the chances of winning.

Elway is looking at the BIG Picture .... while others are looking at the week to week picture.

I think if Tebow goes on to have them make the playoffs, he still won't be THIER QB that they want.

You're missing my point. I get Elway THINKING that. I don't get him SAYING that, while Denver is in position to make a playoff run.

Say you stand behind your QB, blah blah blah...perhaps he can get you into the playoffs...perhaps even a home playoff game.

Support him to the nth degree right now...then make a change later if you want.

Despite everything Sanchez has done for the Jets, you still get the feeling he may not be Rex's 'guy'. But Rex doesn't SAY that...he says Sanchez is the man for the Jets. At this point saying perhaps Sanchez isn't in the long-term picture for the Jets (even if he's not) would be assinine.

Maybe Elway is motivating TeBow? I mean, it's him against the world, right? He seems to be thriving under these stakes.

This is a new gig for Elway. He was also brought in as part of the new "transparency" regime after the McDaniels fiasco. I think he has been VERY forthcoming about all the aspects of the team. Maybe to a fault with this issue. He has really pissed A LOT of people off here, and it's gotta be tough on Timmy hearing that.

It's like Mayhew or Schwartz in Detroit right now coming out and saying 'You know, I really like the direction our team is headed, but I'm really not sure Stafford is the guy to lead us to the Super Bowl'.

Or Holmgren saying the same thing about McKoy.

Are they thinking that? Perhaps. Are they saying it? Of course not.

Rex won't and can't say anything because that IS his guy. HE wanted him in the draft and HE traded up to get him in the draft. So NOW, he has to sleep in the bed HE made. Same thing applies to Hue Jackson and the 2 possible #1s he traded for Carson Palmer. He is gonna stick up for Palmer because he took a risk with him. IF Parlmer does not lead the Raiders to a playoff birth THIS YEAR and at least a AFC championship next year...he made his bed as well and he will have to deal with consequenses.

Elway did not draft Tebow. NOT his guy. To me, you can clearly see it by his trades and release of Orton. He wants it built HIS way and has no issues saying it.

While you dont have to be a genius to say this, I think the game tomorrow with Lions and Pack could be a shoot out! Go lions!

Elway should have an issue saying it. It's stupid to diss your own QB. You don't like him? Replace him. But don't make his life more difficult WHILE he is your QB.

Anyone thinking Tebow needs 'motivation' is obviously not paying attention here...

well no i don't think elway should have an issue saying what he said. i think we're the ones who can choose if we do or don't have a problem with elway saying these things. i agreed with the point you made earlier. i think its a valid one. it is unnecessary for elway to say these things but at the same time, if tebow can't handle the criticism and pressure then he really can't be an nfl qb. i think he has done a solid job handling the pressure that comes with being an NFL qb so far.

Looks like Orton wants to BLOCK being claimed by the Chiefs.

Orton may try to discourage Chiefs from claiming him

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on November 23, 2011, 12:53 PM EST

A number of teams could place a claim on Kyle Orton by 4 p.m. ET Wednesday, but most of the focus remains on the Bears and Chiefs.

Multiple Chicago reports say the Bears will claim Orton. But will he get there?

ESPN's John Clayton said on SportsCenter Wednesday that Orton is "trying to get word out" that he may not report to the Chiefs if Kansas City claims him.

(Presumably, part of getting the word out is telling Clayton to go on ESPN to talk about it.)

A report by NFL.com said earlier Thursday that the Chiefs are "considering" placing a claim on Orton, which is no surprise. It's clear Orton wants to play for the Bears. That's why he pushed for his release.

We'd like to thank the Broncos and Orton for spicing up an otherwise quiet Wednesday.

Quote:
The Kansas City Chiefs claimed former Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton on waivers Wednesday, according to an NFL source.

This means they now will take over his contractual rights for the remainder of this season and the Broncos are free of the $2.5 million they would have owed Orton. The Bears also put in a waiver claim for him. The Broncos waived Orton on Tuesday.

Apparently the Bears and Cowboys(!) were the other two teams with claims.

I agree with you that Elway should not have said it, or at least that way ....

As for Ryan, you gotta remember, he's not been bouncing around QB's the last 3 years.
Had they been , he might have something else to say.

Except that Stafford is a LOT better than those you mentioned.
