Windows 10/11 Download

I got this today: 2025-11 Preview Update (KB5070311) (26200.7309)
I know its a preview but worth mentioning

2025-11 Preview Update Preview Update for Windows 11 Versions 25H2 and 24H2 Builds:26200-7309 and 26100-7309 (KB5070311) has been released. This update is available through two release phases: Gradual Rollout and Normal Rollout. Moderate time needed for those choosing to perform a manual download/install/restart. New features and quality improvements come with this update.

While KB5070311 fixes the File Explorer lockup, apparently it cause File Explorer to flash when running in dark mode. So much for a "more consistent Dark Mode".

They need to find a way to speed up downloads for updates like this. It has been 15 minutes and only 5% has downloaded.

For KB5070311, total combined download/install time for me was 13 minutes. 5 minutes to download, 8 minutes to install, at the same time I had an update for Adobe Premier Pro going along with a new release of Symantec Endpoint Protection.

Got this today: 2025-12 Security Update (KB5072033) (26200.7462) and Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool x64 - v5.138 (KB890830) plus some regular definitions.

The December patch payload is pretty significant:

29 Elevation of privilege vulnerabilities
19 Remote code execution vulnerabilities
4 Information disclosure vulnerabilities
3 Denial of service vulnerabilities
2 Spoofing vulnerabilities
1 Partridge in a pear tree

Three zero-days (two exploited) including one in PowerShell!

The critical updates are all part of Office.

It is hard to imagine how they can continually find so many bugs month after month.

These windows updates kill my data feed to the RedH firmware monitor, and I have to restart it after I notice it. If I could use Linux, I would, but this is a Python script that spins off multiple tasks that were all written for windows, and simulating clicking on Windows buttons in the window for each subtask.

Somehow, Satya is upset when they call his company "Microslop".

114 vulnerabilities, three zero-days (one exploited and two publicly disclosed).
  • 57 Elevation of Privilege vulnerabilities
  • 3 Security Feature Bypass vulnerabilities
  • 22 Remote Code Execution vulnerabilities
  • 22 Information Disclosure vulnerabilities
  • 2 Denial of Service vulnerabilities
  • 5 Spoofing vulnerabilities
All in all, an abysmal start to 2026.
