HITS Package Prices Increased

Loosing any channel is not good but GMC is really not a big lost in my book.

I enjoy the GMC channel since they show good family friendly programming such as The Waltons.

I believe we are going to see more channels disappearing in 2012 if a new modern receiver is not made available and HD is not added. It's not worth the programmer's expense to make their channels available to backyard dish owners if its not profitable.

the Waltons seem to be on about 4 or 5 channels now :)
When the Heartland Package was made someone joked "why not have a Waltons Package?" since GMC & Hallmark have it...I think INSP does too

This afternoon I removed the coax going to the DSR-410 receiver and hooked it up to my Openbox S9 and performed a scan. No channels scanned in although the HITS channels had a signal strength above 80% using my 6' dish.

Shouldn't I be able to receive the NBC channels and the Comedy, Cars, Pets, etc HD channels on the AMC18 satellite?

I'm jumping in only because I'm thinking of moving to H2H. I would point the 10 footer to 105W and use my Motorola 922 and Pick 10. I think Ice makes a good point though - - - Dish might be a better way to go because the receiver is much newer - but the Dish package is more dollars but also gives more channels. Still trying to decide. Like Dee - I'm missing History.

Chapel you can get History on the Dish Welcome Pak...decent price.
Popcorn...I have a bear of a time getting Comedy, Cars, Pets, etc on my 8 footer. The NBC channels come in though.

If you need your History fix then HITS might be the answer! :)
You can receive History E&W and H2 which is the former History International on HITS! A couple of my favorite channels are H2 and VH1 Classic.
The other day while I was lining the cat box with Dish Network flyers I noticed that in order to recieve H2 and/or VH1 Classic you must get the Top 250 package which is $69.99 a month plus tax!!!...

And don't forget the 2 year contract with that package. At least with the Pick 10 package you get the option to pick channels that you might really watch and not be paying for something you'll never look at. And you can always pick another package for other channels.
Myself I have BBC America on one 4DTV, Sleuth on another. Scific on another.
Another receiver has the Pick 10 which I can change any channel by going on line.
WE
Speed
TCM
Chiller
National Geographic
History
HGTV
Fox Movie
Lifetime Movies
Bravo
Also another reason I came of with today that has turned some people away from the BUD is the fun of removing heavy snow from it.

Very funny! :) I do like how HITS offers several high tier channels within their basic channel packages which is why it goes so well with a Dish Welcome Package subscription.

Question:
When you go with the pick 10 package do you receive both History E & W and does it count as 1 channel? SRL shows History E only.

I also don't know why someone would go with the pick 10 package when the family or basic digital package is only $5 more per month and includes 27 extra channels.

If you only have one receiver then I'd agree the other is a better buy, but in my case it's not.

Correct, if you are just getting the Welcome Package but does that option also apply to the other packages as I thought you couldn't with other packages.

you can buy your own equipment with any package. You just dont get the 1st year discounts.

nope
If you buy the equipment there is no contract (now this is Dish we're talking about). They set you up on....the easiest way to describe it is pre-paid. When you sign up you pay for the 1st month right away. So when I signed up I paid for a month right away. About 15-18 days later you get a bill for the 2nd month due the day before your new month starts. So as example I got a bill 12/28 due on 1/11. I paid that on 1/10 and now I'm paid up until Feb 11th. They don't have any SS# info so no credit check.

Like I say you dont get any of those discounts if you get a larger package but to get those credits you agree to a 2 year agreement.

edit: another cool option (for me at least...maybe you too) is I "moved" to a neighboring area to get those locals in addition to my own. I use to live in Duluth, MN so I set up the account with a Duluth address (my buddy's). I bought a 211 which is a HD receiver that can be used as a DVR if you want. I paid the one time $40 fee and hooked up a 1TB drive. With my "moved" locals via satellite and my locals via OTA I'm set :) I can record 1 OTA program and 1 sat program at the same time.

Hopefully I will find that out soon!
The same question applies to where Skyvision also shows Bravo E&W, HGTV E&W along with History E&W as choices. Then SRL shows only the E feeds of those three (Or six?) channels.

Geeze Ice! How many times have you told these guys this and they still don't seem to get it?:D

Maybe some people are just looking for better way to get the shows their missing at a reasonable price so they ask questions here at different times and since not everyone has the Dish/Directv forum section activated. Iceberg is the person to ask as he will give you straight answers as you sure can't find it on Dish/Directv web page let alone someone on the phone.

I will say one thing after looking at your other postings you obvious have a real dislike for SRL and 4DTV. as you don't seem to miss a change to slam them.

And you sir have a real dislike for the DBS company's. So much that you spread lies about them. The 2yr contract is just one of them! :D
