I'm not sure how the S9 and S10 work, but my Solomend receiver can't provide outputs through HDMI and composite simultaneously due to resolution issues. Can the MicroHD do this? I'd like to supply a composite output to my ancient slingbox at the same time the receiver is connected to my TV through HDMI. Thanks.
The S10 outputs display HDMI and Composite video simultaneously, but I'm looking forward to laying my hands on a copy of this MicroHD when it comes out.

actually the solomend has hdmi, composite and component video at the same time. however, the 48o/ 560/ 720/ 1080 is the same on all outputs as i recall. have a component in recorder that makes me have 480 input only. hopefully the microhd will be ok on that. i can handle hdmi to the tv and composite to the deck. charlie

If you switch to a later firmware version, all the outputs work at the same time. I prefer the earlier firmware , personally, though, but I don't need the composite output. :)

Exactly...... The microHD composite video port is always 480i (NTSC). The HDMI output can be independently set to another resolution setting of your choice. What other STB outputs 1080P?

Brian,
I dont recall seeing it mentioned, and I really dont want to go back thru all the posts....will this STB feature a "Glorystar Mode"? I am meaning that as an FTA service mode for "normal people". So much interest from the hobbyist community, I sometimes forget there are normals outside of our focused interests....lol

will this STB feature a "Glorystar Mode"?

Initially, the receiver will be released with hobbyist firmware and no Glorystar features. Like Iceberg stated, the satellite delivered firmware updating feature will be active in the hobbyist mode.

Once the firmware is fully implemented and tested we are planning on offering the microHD for Glorystar activation and for private network distribution. The microHD may be available for Glorystar activation in Q3, 2012.

Tony and Brian,
Sorry for the delayed response, dang work.....constantly interfering with my playtime...lol
Thanks for the replys. Besides it exists, I dont know much about Glorystar. Glorystar mode does sound like something I'd like to take a look at though.
There was some discussion about clock syncing and it getting improperly set if on certain satellites. Perhaps someone could elaborate. A thought comes to mind that if the Glorystar/update Sat/TP provides the correct time and the STB has to be configured to automatically accept syncing, wouldnt that also cause a problem when one tunes another sat that incorrectly set the clock?
Should there be/is there a setting option in the FW to only sync to the Glorystar feed? ...or is that even practical? Maybe a means to "sign" the GS sync data that the STB has to recognize when in auto update mode before performing auto update of the clock?
Maybe a "tick box" on each Sat/TP config page that opts to "Enable Auto Clock Sync on this Satellite" .............
I dunno, just a thought.

"Open,Open, Open"....lol

If you put the receiver in the Glorystar mode alot of options are greyed out
channel editor
sat setup
time is done automatically
Glorystar mode is a "set it and forget it" mode for folks who want just the 97W channels

The clock is very accurate on the 200. What I do in advanced mode is (I'm lazy) bring up the 3ABN mux (11842) and say "auto clock set"...and the clock is set properly. Then I change to manual and clock is still fine. I do that when the clock is wrong after doing a reboot or unplugging

Sounds like a good solution provided the clock keeps good time. So many posts about poor timekeeping on the Asian built STBs since the "flood" of them from way back when to up to now even. I expected that the advanced mode features would be (and should be) inaccessible in the Glorystar mode. KISS....lol.
I guess what I was going for was a "best of both modes" feature as far a time sync was concerned.
Automate the selection based on Sat config page settings, so when you lock a bird that is sync enabled it syncs, and when you surf to another that has corrupt data it ignores it because it is deselected on the corrupted bird's Sat config page. If the clock does keep good time and it doesnt get forcibly rebooted or otherwise trashed is not that important.
Trinkets, bell and whistles.......just kickin' around the "Ultimate STB" ball a bit more....lol
Did we get an elaboration on the "skinable" feature? If so I missed it. I certainly dont want the ability to customize the GUI to delay production and rollout. I like the idea though....
"Open, OPen, OPEn, OPEN"....:ranger:

Maybe this has already been answered, and after reading this whole thread, I cannot remember if the microHD is capable of scanning C and K/u TPs, not individual but all at one time, this is one of my wish items for this receiver.

Thank You.

Per my understanding of Brian's suggestion, is I have 3ABN as my first channel in my channel list, therefore it auto sets that channel on powerup and sets the time. by the time I go to select a channel to watch, my time is correct. A little touchy to set up the first time, but has held up -- even losing the receiver and getting it back!

yep that will work. As long as its a channel from 11842 mux it will set the time fine if it loses power

Finely looks like everyone seem to be happy with all the suggestons and inputs presented and with all the items that Brian said is going to implement to the microHD.

I for one have been very patient waiting for the for the big debut, and would like to say that this receiver wiil be the one to rectify all of the downfaults and shortcomings of my present receivers.

The only question is, is Brian it going to start selling them at the beginning of March or toward the middle of the month, I think that I read that it will be most likely toward the middle of the month of March but, I might be WRONG!!.

Come ooooooon microHD.
