The Hopper installer has arrived let the fun begin!

I personally think it's a good looking job. The orange from what I've heard is so that dish's qc guys can easily identify the proper wire was used. Whether you call it, burial, underground or whatever the bottom line is the orange cable is flooded & designed for direct burial, it is a dish approved wire for their installers & must be used.

Yes, excellent job. We were just talking about wire color that dish makes them use.

Is the screen cleaner thing an inside joke or do they really try to sell it to you? If so.. how much and as stated... is it a cool thing to do for the installer (I assume the get a kickback or something?) if you can't tip them?

Yes, inhouse and some sub contractors are selling screan cleaners as well as other stuff, think anything that has to do with home theatre short of power strips (soon to come). Think Geek Squad.

The "kick back" we recieve is points awarded per sale used towards products and trips ( if you accumulate enough) on an independent website.

Screan cleaner is 15 bucks. I have personally bought 3 for my self and others.

According to other threads they are required to sell so many a month or they are fired. Guess you can keep buying them for yourself to stop from getting fired.

I ordered this morning at 8:30 and at 11:10 CST they showed up.

Straight off I am told that this is the first Hopper installation in Houston and that management will be showing up to see over the process. Also to bring the Duo-Node.
I ordered about the time the installer showed up at your place and was told Sat PM was as soon as they could get to Kingwood. Maybe the installer will have 2 or 3 Hopper installs under his belt.:p When I got my 922 it was the first that installer had done and he had not had any training. He spent a lot of time on the phone but it went well. I'm looking forward to this after 3 922s in 22 months. But who knows. We may all be screaming "I want my 922 back." :D

UPDATE: DAY 2 of the install! Well the hoppers are up and working (just don't use the weather channel app) but the Joeys are running all over the place and refuse to link with there moms.... So Dish is coming back today to get it sorted out.

The Joeys will come up but on the download phase it will sit there forever and says "Discovering......".

Other than that, straight off there were a few issues. Before you can record anything, the hopper requires some guide data it says it needs. You have you wait about 20 minutes after the system is up and watching TV before it magically goes away.

ISSUE 2: I'm not sure about the rest of the apps but do not mess with the weather channel bomb... err i mean app. After using it, i dare not try the other apps yet.

More later as we... I mean they... figure it out.

Did they download and activate the hopper before they hooked up the joeys?

This is helpful info...my install is progressing right now with 2 Hoppers/2 Joeys. I'm trying to "stay tuned" to your thread and others looking for possible glitches. Maybe we should start a single thread detailing glitches as they're encountered.
