I'm sorry guys but I've tried searching, google, bing you name it and everything is too general or not answering my questions.

I have been getting messages not receiving signal for 1hr, 4hrs, 7, 10hrs for the last 6-8 months. I've call directv numerous time and there only answer is to send a tech out for $50 and if I need a new dish charge me for that!

I can only seem to point the dish at 101 with a signal 89-100, 99 the best I get is 68-71 and 110, 119 have nothing. I have a hr24 in the living room and a basic receiver in the bedroom nothing else. Btw directv has had me change dish settings on the hr24 telling me it was programmed wrong...that was 5-6 years ago.

Sorry if this is long winded...spent the last 1.5hrs jumping up and down a latter...any help would be great...other wise I'm jst going to cancel and go with over the air tv for a while. Thanks

Is the mast level and plumb? By the sounds of it you have either a bad LNB or a bad line. Is it SWM or do you have 4 lines coming from you dish?

Welcome to the site !!!

Ask away, thats what were here for, theres plenty of people to help.

More info needed
What dish are you currently using ?
What are your locals ?

Dish info can be found here:
Menu/Settings/ Info and Test/More System info

Triple checked the mast to make sure it was level...then readjusted the dish and have the same message. I have a slim5 dish with three lines coming off it two going to the hr21 and one to the SD box in the bedroom. Bad line wouldn't surprise me. I asked them to run new lines when I bought the house 7 years ago but they didn't speak English and when I called while they were just plugging in the box, that I could have done myself, I was told they would be changed if needed?! Any way to test the LNB or just buy a new one and try it? I think I've seen them on eBay fairly cheap.

Jimbo, what do you mean by what are my locals? Sorry I'm jst not sure what that means. Thank you.

Btw I called to upgrade to the SWM and the hr34(multiple times) but they wanted 199 for the server, they called it that, 299 for the hr34 and an hd25, plus 49 to install and some kit I needed that they would toss in because I've been a loyal customer.

I've always got great customer service, but I jst can't see dropping that kind of money especially when they give it all for FREE to a new customer!!

Your guide data comes off the 119 if your locals are on that bird. If not, they're coming from the 101. Jimbo wants to know where your locals are broadcast from. Example, mine are Indianapolis locals.

I'm pretty sure that's 119 but somebody will chime in if I'm wrong. As for the guide data, prolly going to need the LNB swapped and dish peaked in if you're having that issue

jstcruzin, since your sd locals are on 101, you must have an sls3 lnb. That means you don't get signals from 110 or 119, only 99, 101, and 103. Can you post your signal levels for those satellites? On 99s the only transponders that matter are 15, 23, and 24. Don't worry about 103s. None of your channels come from there.

Yes, he is on the 101 for SD and 99-15 for his HD locals.

I was asking so we knew if you needed the SL5, which you do not, a SL3 would work fine.
Easier to get and point, your only hitting Sats that are a few degrees apart vs the SL5

Will do as soon as my wife and daughter are done with the tv this morning...I went to look at the signals from the bedroom to post and the signals are different and the dish listed is an 18x20? I don't even see the 99s listed? Is that bad?

Your boxes are trying to read the 110 and 119. This could cause your problem but it's unlikely.

How many pods are there on the lnb? Does the dish say Slimline on it?

Which lnb does yours look like?

Unless your package requires that lnb to get 119, I'm surprised they installed one. Your spot beams are 15, 23, and 24. The numbers are a little low, but not terrible. You said you get nothing on 119 and nothing higher than 71 on 110. That's way too low. I suspect your dish needs realigning.
