i have an azbox premium+ box.I tried to
install the openrsi image on it and corrupted
the firmware. Now it is stuck on the booting screen.I am not much
technically incline to recover the box.
I was wandering if anyone on the boards have the tools to recover from this?
Could you recover it for me?I will gladly pay
for the shipping both ways and pay you for your
help.If you think you can do this for me it would be much
appreciated.Let me know if you can help.
thanks.

Just load the official firmware to a usb memory
stick and rename it as patch. Just patch no bin.
Then load it in the stb. The azbox will see it.
Already tried this but it didn't work.
The unit will not go past the word booting on the box.

There is a dummy file that u load first prior to loading the original bin.. It was somewhere in the azbox area.

What Wildboys is stating is that the box won't go beyond the BOOTING sequence, so it cannot get to the process of installing any factory firmware.

The normal sequence of events would be to start with the box OFF, insert the USB stick with the factory firmware (i.e 0.9.5020) installed and renamed as "patch". Turn the box ON and the display on the front panel should show the following:

WELCOME
BOOTING
Checking
Checking...
USB...S
Mount USB
UPDATE

Then the UPDATE menu should appear on the TV screen and you can make the selections required. However, if the box is stuck in BOOTING, it can never get to the upgrade stage to allow any factory firmware to be installed. So, what he needs is a recovery procedure for the OpenRSI installation. The only other recovery method that I know of is the one that I posted a long while back, but that is rather intense and involved. If no other option is found, the procedure that I posted might be the only method of recovery.

Here is the recovery procedure that I posted: http://www.satelliteguys.us/azbox-discussion/246612-azbox-recovery-procedure-box-locked-up.html

The firmware actually has to be renamed to patch.bin and not simply patch and be located in the top level of your USB stick in order for it to be detected when attempting to boot the unit. However, a rather useless feature enabled by default on MS Windows is to hide extensions for known file types so patch.bin might actually show up as simply patch.

To avoid making mistakes renaming a file to "patch.bin.bin" or "patch" as opposed to "patch.bin", it is recommended to disable this feature by doing the following:

Select: Tools --> Folder Options
Select View tab
Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types"

To add to this, if you are not sure or you forget where to go to check this setting or change it, you can copy the firmware file to the USB stick twice. Rename one "patch" and rename the other "patch.bin" The AZBox will find the correct one and ignore the other. Unfortunately, in this case, Wildboys cannot get even that far as the box won't progress to the point of even looking for the patch firmware.
