Questions about The Hopper?

Being out of the loop for a while, I have what may be a dumb question...Will the Dish installer need to do anything at the dish itself, to install my Hopper? The reason I'm asking is twofold:One, it's raining pretty hard where I live, and two, I had hoped he could verify the settings on my dish since it's been extremely windy the last 4 days.

The tech will examine signal strengths. If for some reason he/she doesn't, casually ask them if the strengths are good. Whether they mess around with the antenna depends.

What is considere as good signal strength? With D* I was at the lowest 78 and on most 100 (or close to it) With Dish is shows between 57 and 65 across the board. I have had occasional freezes and minor pixalating and was wondering if this is why.

Man I want this bad but not sure i should rush it just yet.
I only have 1 HD TV and an SD in the back room and i'm the only person here
I have a 622 and a 722 but mainly use the 722.

What would I need, 1 hopper and 1 joey?

And if i turn in the two receivers i assume it will help counter new fees or be close

So wait or go for it? I don't really want to feel like a tester and the current hardware is pretty bullet proof.
I just hate having so many timers for networks as it's conflicting all the time for me, hence still having the 622

I think i am still in the contract for getting the 722 so i assume i will be a decent upgrade price

So....wait?

edit-- I also already have a sling adapter on the 722 to watch stuff on my laptop/PC

I am wanting 2 hoppers and 1 joey. Can I still do this though a Dirt team member? I believe I previously saw only Dirt members could do that.
I am wanting 1 hopper connected to the internet and the other not. Is this only available after the hopper to hopper update? When are the hoppers suppose to see each other? Summer? We are for sure getting that update right? My 922 was suppose to do a lot of things too.
Thanks.

You will need to do the 2 Hoppers 1 Joey through a local retailer, the DIRT can't do those as that type of setup is not available in their computer screens. :(

You will save in fees like n0qcu said, and you can still use your Sling Adapter. Would you send me a private message so I can better assist you?

Has anybody had any problem with the picture freezing up after PTAT stops recording? Last night, after PTAT did it's thing, when the 11 o'clock news came on, the picture froze up. The Hopper wouldn't let me change channels for about 30 seconds, then it changed and everything was fine. Also, I still can't seem to get into BBMP, yet it shows I connected to the Internet. And one last thing, I searched the thread but couldn't fine an answer to for this, how do I delete shows that were recorded by PTAT?

Thanks,
Ghpr13:)

Your fees would be $6 less than you are currently paying.

You can upgrade even if you are still in a contract, it justs gets re-upped another 2 years.

PTAT automatically stays for 8 days and then deletes the first day of recordings. You can't delete it yourself.

Thanks, good to know

I need to read the threads here on things like when recording the networks can you view any of the 4 off that tuner or does it require a second tuner to watch any 'live' network channel while it's saving that stream

anyways, so much here to read!

Odd the chart does not have 'check' mark for 1 HD and 1 SD shared recordings

http://www.mydish.com/upgrades/products/hopper/images/Upgrades_Hopper_3.jpg

So does that mean it's not really for me currently since my back TV is SD and I do use single mode and PiP all the time ?

I must not be getting what it means by 'shared'

Before I go and dump two receivers I need to be sure I can enjoy what I have but have way more with the networks being covered for me daily.

If your SDTVs have composite inputs (red, white, yellow) the joeys will work fine on them. We have a Joey hooked to a SDTV. The only problem is the guide is harder to read on the SDTV than it was on the TV2 output from our 722 but it is definitely usable.

Thanks
Yeah it has several of them as it's a old duel tuner sony XBR so it's top of the line.....just old :)

thanks a ton and I kinda assumed the guide might not fit well. What about aspect ratio can it be adjusted with a click ?

Eventually I will go HD but rather dumb to do it on a TV that still looks great

I'm guessing I could use two joeys on the TV and use it's PiP but that's probably a waste since those things are not free :)

Again much appreciated!

No is hasn't. It's the same as the 922. I have the Hopper side by side with a 722k in our show room. Really no differnce. It's the HD munus and guides that make it looks so much sharper.
The TV resolution or settings can LIMIT the quality you see and make them look the same.
