Really like the power saving feature

But, whats gonna wake you up when you need to get up .... not the TV if it's turned off !

Does your TV actually shut off, or go to Standby ?

I have this little round button on my Harmony that I push when its time to go to bed ;)

They had to add the power saving feature for the HR34's, they lose time if they are left on too long LMAO

my TV's all do the same thing; no signal for 2m with no signal = auto-off.. my smartphone is my alarm when I need one.

So, if the Sat recvr is turned off, the TV gets no signal sent to it, it shuts off ?

I don't know if mine do that or not, I'll have to check, but I doubt it.

My TV always has a signal going to it with the OTA signal plugged in to it, that being on a different input, but still a signal to the TV none the less.

Exactly. And some tv's have the option to turn on as well like an alarm clock. Used to have one myself but don't need it because of the two reasons you already posted above :)

I am almost positive it doesn't scan the OTA in.. I have OTA installed as well and mine goes off right on time. I think it scans HDMI, DVI and maybe RCA too. No F-type

Jimbo, mine does the same. Auto off. If you're hooked up HDMI for example and whatever was feeding that input is shut off it will kill the tv after 2 minutes of not having a signal

I know all newer Sonys have this feature. I'm not sure about others. I own 3 Sonys with the oldest being about 1 1/2 years old and even that one does it. As for other brands...I'm going to say yes but this is just me assuming :)

Mine only scans the input that is selected. I've left my HR24 on and and shut off the PS3 and the tv shut off however, all my equipment is ran through a Yamaha receiver with just 1 cable running to the tv so this may also come in to play

I think you are 100% correct; this is exactly how all mine are setup too.

The whole adding of this is amusing to me. Something simple as turning off a box needs to be automated? Yeah right...

I turn my junk on, watch tv, I turn my junk off, go do something else. Not real complicated. I also understand folks love to leave their DVR's on (see complaints about HR34 losing time), and I dont get that either...

virtually all advanced electronics have an auto-power and/or auto-sleep/hibernate setting these days; use it or not; its no biggie either way.

Waste of time when the programmers could be working on bug fixes or useful things...

Also, when adding "new features", many times other problems are introduced. If it aint broke, dont fix it, and if someone is worried about power consumption, they should not be so lazy as to leave it on ;)
