I have been doing some recording on the f3 using a 16GB SDHC class 10 card and a USB card reader. It works fair on SD channels, but is to slow for HD. I get the "device is to slow" message on HD channels and Montana PBS. Time shift works well on all the SD channels that I have tried. I need to buy an external HDD. Just posted this for more info. on the f3, as someone asked about this in another thread last week.

the original boast was 50k channel list,I see that has been knocked down to 6k in some ads.

Xtgold the only site I can find the newer Openbox X3 on is: Shenzhen Yojia Technology Co. in china, and it advertises the 50k channels (not that anyone would ever need that many channels), but it appears to only be so on the just announced Openbox X3 Receiver. The Skybox F3 and the smaller M3 which use the same FW are advertised for sale on a number of sites. XTgold what other site(s) did you find the new Openbox X3 on?

Also does anyone know if Satellite Guys will be getting Firmware Updates for the new Openbox X3 for a safe Download, since they currently have the Firmware for the Skybox F3 and M3 Sat Rx's available?

Xtgold Okay I see your point- the add on Yoija Tech Co Ltd says more than 50,000 channels. Guess you could say that more than 6000 channels could mean up to 50,000 - but really I don't think I could ever see myself with over 2000 channels as now on my slow Blindscan Azbox the total is about 990 channels after almost 2 years of channel scanning. Thanks for the reply.

people in europe do complain about "only" 5000 channel capacity.
One of their sats has 2000 and if a motorized setup 5000 would be reached quickly they say.

all the serial loaders I have seen so far were using support files from the m3606,which is interesting if that really works,or it could be a foul up.The s16 is based on the m3606.

I just uploaded the OpenBox x3 manual up in the receiver files if anyone would like to look at it.

Great news ke4est thanks for doing this, I'll look in the Receiver Files for it as I ordered the Openbox X3 HD PVR(3) yesterday from Shenzhen Yojia Technology Co. Ltd. - its supposed to be delivered via DHL, so if delivery goes well I may see it by late next week. Hope the firmware upgrade(s) will soon be on the Sat Guys Site. And thanks to Squid385 for his Tips & PopcornNMore for getting me interested in Skybox / Openbox Receivers.

I have the lastest firmware too just having problems getting it uploaded, hope to have it up in a couple days.

I received my F3 from Mixeshop today. The packaging was adequate for a single unit shipment. The egg crate packaging in the box did it's job protecting the unit in transit. I am impressed with the overall look of the unit. The case construction is typical low cost, but passable. The unit powered up and it was in 50hz mode, which my monitor cannot handle. I had to read the manual to find the V.format button on the remote would solve my problem. I was happy to see the unit had composite video connections, component connections, and HDMI connectivity. My initial connection is using the composite output. I will continue my fun through the weekend and will try to post a review when I have had too much fun with it.

Bongu,
I would put the latest FW update on it before you do anything else. The FW I posted here has worked great for me and I believe it is the same FW that yojiatech has on their site dated 5/10/2012. I didn't get mine from yojia though. I also posted the american sat list here. There is also a rs232 upgrade program available for the f3, if you ever need it. The FW that I posted here has been flawless for me for about a month now, but the first versions (which is probably in your box) had some problems.

For anyone interested, the skybox f3 and the openbox x3 are the same as far as hardware, only cosmetically different. They both have the same features. The reason I know is, I emailed yojiatech and asked them to post a pdf users manual for the f3 on their web site and their reply was to use the x3 manual as they are both the same.

Back up the previous firmware first onto USB. This was a mistake I made with my Skybox S12 receiver.
