DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

Think about how many people aren't going to have the season finales of Mad Men and The Killing recorded this weekend because their timers will no longer work.

Which reminds me...
I need to fix the timer for my Grandma for The Golden Girls on We TV before 7 P.M. Central tonight. She was upset when We TV took them off at 11AM for Fraiser and then later at 5:00 PM for shows like Bridezillas.
These are precisely the reasons for Dish Pass/Seek and Record timers.

Why is the guide data for 393 IndiePlex differ by a few hours from 378 IndiePlex? Does the "real" SD feed have a different schedule than the HD feed?

I wonder how many of those people are actually DISH subscribers. :D
Really?

If you really feel most of them Aren't subscribers, then you guys better get your heads checked.

People that are in these forums , maybe. But thats a fraction of 14 million customers.

Some directv and cable customers with a screw or 2 loose , sure maybe. But they would have only learned that nonsense from Satellitguys and DBS talk. That still leaves about 13 + million of dish networks customers that are unaware what is happening.

What I am hearing is that the feeling is a lot of them are Rainbow / Cablevision employees posting. Sinc many of them just "liked" DISH within the past 24 hours.

Sometimes things are not always as they appear.

Well, that would be all time low if that is true (which it could be--I am not doubting Scott; I know he is passing along what he hears).

I seriously doubt that is the case.
I would love to know how one could ever prove this.

To sit there and think customers aren't upset ,and its only just Rainbow media employees posting negative comments, well not much I can say.
You have said it all!

I doubt todays Memo at Rainbow media was to post Dish Sucks all over their facebook page.

Maybe AMC's Page but Not DishNetworks :spy:

We pay for TV service so we don't have to wait a year to pay $35 to $40 to purchase a DVD or Bluray set or $3 an episode from iTunes. If you watch 3 shows like The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men it starts to add up pretty quick. Why should we, as paying tv customers, have to deal with that?

Not only that, but when you follow a show like Mad Men, or Breaking Bad, which a lot of people you know watch them to, it sucks to have other talking about "last night show" and you didn't get to see because of a stupid dispute like this. Before FX was pulled off the air, I watched SOA without fail. Because of the dispute, I wasn't able to keep up with the series and I stopped watching it. Maybe I'll get back into it this coming season, not sure. Also, like king3pj posted, I pay $100.00/month for Dish with the Hopper. Now you tell me I have to pay more to see my favorite programs, yet will still have to wait a while to see it. I lease a DVR so I could record the programs I want to see so I can watch them at my convenience. Not when I'm allow to. It would be one thing if these were premium channels like HBO or Showtime and for whatever reason I chose not to subscribe to them, but AMC has always been available on the lower tiers of cable and satellite. I mean, hell, Dish could at least wait until Breaking Bad season ends, being this is the end of the show.

Oh, come on. Most on the ongoing noise in this thread is attributable to about six people (yourself included). For such a spike on Facebook to take place, there may have very well have been a rallying cry from somewhere.

Oh nice move Charlie!!

Email sent getting ready to voice our displeasure on facebook as well.I sincerely hope they get an earful, and furthermore I hope it hits them where it hurts if they don't make it right.By that I mean credits or suitable replacements for the channels they removed.I haven't even had the tv on today I take it there aren't any redirects letting customers know that the channels are still available in the 9000 range?Still money says come Wednesday maybe sooner they will be gone period.

Contract up come this Sept,if this isn't resolved then DTV with free Sunday Ticket will be awfully appealing!

Your in there to pal, Only difference is I'm not posting all over satellite guys that Rainbow Media is posting negative replys all over facebook.

Well I guess I will have to go to Uverse or Direct. I have been a customer of Dish for about 14 years and I like their receivers, I thought about getting a Hopper & 2 Joeys but since they are fooling around with getting rid of AMC I guess I will have to look into Uverse who has wireless receivers in my area. My neighbors who have Uverse say the picture is excellent and DSL is great. This is not the first time I have been disappointed with Dish as far as losing channels. I don't understand why they cant just offer it ala carte like they do HBO, SHOWTIME and the other foreign channels. My bill has only gone up and I keep loosing channels.

Or maybe most of that spike came from the channel numbers being changed with no notice from Dish. People probably just noticed their channels were gone and didn't think to look to the 9000s. Sure some of the posts may have been from AMC employees but it is it really that hard to believe that most of them are just people who genuinely think the channels are gone.

If Dish drops AMC and I lose Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead and Hell on Wheels. I will immediately switch to Direct.

May as well put the DIRECTV number on speed dial... I would bet AMC stays off of Dish for a while... At least most of the summer, maybe forever.

The way things are shaking out they might want to reconsider that. They are going to lose more subs than they think imho.I think today's channel moves were just a test of the waters to see how much negative feedback they would receive.SO far it appears to be overwhelming. It will definitely hit them in the pockets.

Settle the dang lawsuit with Rainbow and negotiate in good faith on the channels.Would that really be so hard to do?

First we've been without Disney/ABCFAM, Etc. in HD for a long time... Then SNY and MSG are gone, probably for good... Now AMC/WE, Etc. going, maybe for good... Man, Dish is really starting to look bad around these parts and is getting harder and harder to sell. What a shame, especially with the nice new Kangaroos running around.

Even though I would hope that Dish loses subs over this, I think we have to face the facts that only Dish knows how many subs are still under a 2 year contract. Specially since the introduction of the Hopper. With Dish pulling this "dispute" right after the Hopper seem to really be the DVR every one wanted to trade up for. With that info Dish is taking that into consideration as to how many subs will leave. I know I can't. I couldn't afford the ETF right now. If this would have happened before I got my Hopper, when I was out of my contract, I would have called Directv in a New York minute.
