ESPN Classic's thing was ESPN requesting that Classic and ESPNU change packages. This was across all providers. ESPNU use to be in sports pack.
So ESPNU is in "basic" package and Classic is in a sports pack.

Blame ESPN!

Similar story when "Cloo" moved from Choice Xtra to Choice Ultimate earlier this year and Sprout for non-grandfathered subscribers.

I guess you didnt read what I wrote...

Most providers obliged. Some actually put both in a basic package

Iceberg, I read what you wrote :)

Now here's an update from DIRECTV Viacom Dispute - Viacom Wants YOU to Pay 30% MORE! It's Day 5 of the Viacom Blackout and they're continuing to make good progress while they talk with Viacom. They will be working today and everyday until they reach a new agreement and the channels be restored as soon as possible. Hang in there fans of SpongeBob, Dora, iCarly, Hot in Cleveland, The Soul Man, 106 & Park, and Degrassi. I know it's frustrating, I'm still with DirecTV. Thanks :)

My friend try to cancel directv because the lost of viacom chs , but because he had a 2 yr agreement ,he was going to be charge a penalty for every month left I belive he said if was $20.00 a month he still have 18 mos left. I belive that if you sign an agreement you should honor it, my friend took a package deal with this channels from viacom included, when the provider stops sending those channesl for what ever reason, the the agreement becomes voids, and the cust should have the option of canceling . I know theyre is some fine print somewhere in the contract about chs subject to change

read the contract
PROGRAMMING IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AT ANY TIME

so hey if you want to pay $360 to get out of the contract go ahead. But Directv wont let you out early because of this minor spat which will be resolved soon :)

I mean as a supplement to get some Viacom channels back, not to use as the primary source.

TeenNick, NickJr, NickToons, are not in HD on DirecTV.

i was actually just curious since their pick 10 looks a bit appealing :)

My kids aren't watching as much tv as they used to. They are outside playing more and their rooms are clean. I removed the channels from the favs list. When the viacrap channels return, I won't tell the kids.

That is good and thats what all kids should be doing more of :)

If anyone is really that desperate for Viacom channels, Dish has some of the channels in its lower packs. For example, in Dish's $14.99/month package, CMT, Comedy Central, and MTV2 are included along with other channels (in SD) along with locals (in HD where available). Usually, this is used for retention, but as of recently it is advertised on the Dish site. FMI: http://www.mydish.com/support/channels/packagewelcomepack.aspx or http://www.dish.com/entertainment/packages/welcome/

Tr3s is in Dish's $22.99/mo Dish Latino Basico. FMI: http://www.dish.com/entertainment/packages/dish-latino-basico/

Also, in Dish Family, Dish has TV Land, Nickelodeon East, Nickelodeon West, and Nicktoons along with other SD channels along with locals (in HD where available). FMI: http://www.mydish.com/support/channels/packagedishfamily.aspx or http://www.dish.com/entertainment/packages/dish-family/

I believe that Dish Family is the minimum American package for the $10/month Blockbuster @ Home package with one disc at a time. It looks like those with Dish Latino Basico may add it, too. Blockbuster @ Home includes Palladia, Centric, and Logo. Epix 1, 2, and 3 are also included. There are HD channels in this package. FMI: http://www.dish.com/entertainment/blockbuster/

In addition, according to Dish, Comedy Central HD, CMT HD, Palladia HD, and Spike TV HD are in Dish's $34.99/month Dish America package.

Although it may seem obvious, I should also mention that an HD receiver is needed for HD channels.

If looking at some of the higher packages, Dish's $44.99/month America's Top 120 (along with HD 120 Free as well) package includes CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV 2, Nickelodeon East, Nickelodeon West, Spike TV, TV Land, and VH1. According to DIRT, Palladia was recently put back in America's Top 120, but I cannot confirm that. FMI: http://www.dish.com/entertainment/packages/americas-top-120/

Dish's $44.99/month Dish Latino Dos (along with HD Dos Free) includes Comedy Central, MTV, MTV 2, Nickelodeon East, Nickelodeon West, and Spike TV are included. FMI: http://www.dish.com/entertainment/packages/dish-latino-dos/

Dish's $57.99/month Dish Latino Max includes CMT, TV Land, and VH1. FMI: http://www.dish.com/entertainment/packages/dish-latino-max/

BET, Nick Jr., and TeenNick are in Dish's $59.99/month America's Top 200. FMI: http://www.dish.com/entertainment/packages/americas-top-200/

Nicktoons Network and VH1 Classic are in Dish's $69.99/month America's Top 250. FMI: http://www.dish.com/entertainment/packages/americas-top-250/

Smart idea...:)

Latest update from DIRECTV.

[h=6]It is Sunday and here’s hoping that you’ve got sand between your toes, your nose in a good book or are counting down to start supporting the USA Olympics team later this month. Our programming team is working again today and everyday until we have a deal with Viacom allowing us to return their channels back to you.

We know that it is frustrating when programmers pull their signals during contract negotiations. If it were in our control the Viacom channels would still be available to you. However, we believe our tough stance on excessive rate increases from programmers will allow us to keep costs and your bill as low as possible. Thank you for your continued patience. We appreciate your business and look forward to putting this situation behind us.

Has viacom released any kind of updates on the negotiations?I'm guessing they are dead silent.

I havent seen any. I know they're getting hammered by angry customers on their FaceBook page.
