New microHD Firmware Release: GSP_MHD_009 Available for USB and Satellite Update (OTA-SSU) 08.20.201

Well this update did me in. My microHD is not useable. I'll have to load the old firmware and try and get it going again.
what do you mean?

Once you loaded this firmware and rebooted you go to "update by USB" and select "userdb" and reload your channel list.
If you didnt do a save of your channel list then you will have to start from scratch

Brian posted it at the beginning

Warning: The GSP_MHD_009 update is a main system file and should not overwrite your settings and channel scans. You should back-up your current settings, set-up and firmware to a USB drive before performing the S/W Update via Satellite - Manual or USB.

Back-up your current firmware to USB - Save to USB (ALLCODE) .abs
Save your user data to USB - Save to USB (userdb) .udf

Important Notice: After updating your receiver be sure to power cycle and perform a Factory Reset before reloading your saved user data (.udf) or reconfiguring and scanning.

Is it Dead Dead, or is it like your first Post. If you don't have any channels, and you did not do a back up of us user file you will have to re-scan your birds all over again.

I fully intended to wipe it clean and start over. But I can't access the installation menu, antenna settings. They are all greyed out. The only option available is the Sat List. Unless there is some other setting I havn't been able to find that turns those on and off. I've updated this before and didn't experience this. I flashed it with the previous update and still the same. Reflashed with the current one and still no antenna control. Powered on and off and did resets. Nothing changed. Everything else I can access and seems to work

I just tried the usb update no problem. I have another microHD never opened i will update on sat and see if i get the same issue as magic.

You should be able to update or reinstall you satellite list - channels from the update by USB menu item. Otherwise you have no channels, so you have to start from ZERO and select and scan your satellites again --- how do I know -- 9 hours to get one going - and I thought it was just me.

If the only option available is the channel list, the user data has been erased and you will need to either set-up the satellites and scan or reload the saved User Data File.

To reload the .udf file:
Arrow down to select "Tools"
Select "Update by USB"
Select Upgrade Mode "userdb"
Select Upgrade File and chose the saved .udf file
Select "Start" and press the List/OK Key. Press OK again to accept the file upgrade.
Once the user data file has been uploaded, power cycle the receiver. Your channels will be restored.

If you have never seen this before, the receiver was not Factory Reset after an update. This would not be a good thing!

This is awesome!!! So even with no internet microHD users can always have the latest firmware.. :) I'm sold on the microHD again.

Well this whole confusion of mine started because I did NOT want to load my old settings and lists back on with this update. In fact I was waiting to redo the micro until this update. :) And since there was never anything wrong to begin with, we don't have to figure it out ;)

when the receiver is fresh you have to go into the sat list and select the satellites you want it to show in the setup
no satellites selected equals no options

You didn't put your "heart" into did you.;)

Thank you Brian, can you address the rest of my thread concerning the blind scanning and Scan Frequency Range Widow that does not seem to change after putting in the correct setting.

The entire IF range is still targeted, but the actual scan is defined within the user selected parameters. Example: The user refines the search parameter of a standard LO Blind Scan by placing a Start Frequency of 11700 and Stop Frequency of 11800. The found TP(s) will be found, analyzed and logged within this range, but the scan will look at the entire 950 - 2150 IF range and quickly skip over and not analyze found TPs outside of the user defined or default range.

The percentage of scan that is displayed is based on the complete IF range not the user defined range.

Dang we keep posting the same time...:D....but if you get what I meant in my above post I said the same thing you just said ;)

I did it that was as well since I am lazy and didn't feel like going to the pc... Or even using my phone to download and update. Just way too easy to update over the satellite. Very cool feature indeed.

Sent from my C64 w/Epyx FastLoad cartridge

Nice!! I now can select a LO of 5150-10750 and the microHD scans both bands . No need for seperate C and KU sats now. :)

Are you saying that if LO 5150-10750 is selected for scanning, this little marvel will scan both "BANDS" by itself at the same time in sequence, so all the channels of the scanned satellite are staggered by their respective bands, and showed such as one channel is a KU band and the next channel might be a C band....If that is true, then this little box is a wonder.

Well it scans C-Band H & V first then KU Band H & V at each position when doing a multi-sat scan. It scans C-Band freqs high ~ low and does KU band freqs low ~ high. Don't know why it was arranged like that but it works :)

That is what I thought, that would have made the MicroHd very, very unique....Now I have to chose between my two LNBF, DMX-741 or the GEOSAT pro CK1 to use....Any other recommendations is appreciated.

Can you try them both and let us know which one gets a better Q reading?

I have never had any luck with those 2 in 1 units. (They work but not to my liking) I'm a more dishes are better guy so I would just throw up a 90cm ku dish.
