Apple Announces new iPhone 5

Speaking of comparisons. Here's an interesting one. Yes, I know it's from an Android site, but you can't really argue with spec sheets, which is essentially what this is comparing.

That wasn't biased at all. ROFL! "content is King... But S3 still wins" pretty much killed the objectivity of this one.

But in all honesty, all similar articles will have a slant one way or the other. And fanboys from both sides will argue back and forth until they're blue in the face. It'll definitely be entertaining.

The commentary wasn't what I was interested in. The specs were. Its hard to spin side by side specs.

There are still too many unknowns about the guts of the iPhone for the specs to be properly weighed. We'll know a lot more once a full teardown is done in 10 days or so.

The iPhone 5 will sell, but not in the numbers as pervious IPhones.

Tim Cook is not the right CEO for apple. Unlike Jobs he thinks small improvements is all apple needs to do.

He is wrong and I suspect we will start to see a slide in sells of apple products.

I give you a month, or even a week or two, once you see it, the phone whore in you will start to get the itch... And from then, its a matter of time. :D

and a month later he'll change it again. he'll "upgrade" 3 more times before the year ends :D

I would have preferred them to get the screen to 1280x720 instead of the odd size that they went to. Yes I know apps would have to have black bars all the way around until they adjusted to to the new resolution.

They also appeared to have removed HDMI output, which is disappointing.

Apple really should have changed course this year and offered 2 iPhones. Like they did with the iPod line, they really should have made the "bold" step and came out with a second form factor. Although technically they still have 2 with the old and the new, but I mean 2 new ones, this one and a large screen model. An iPhone XL would appeal to many people.

who's the apple whore here gizzi? lol
I remember when he hated Apple, now I think hes a card carrying member of the Church of Apple Scientoligy. :D

I like Apple but got to admit I am liking them less and less, but I still prefer a Apple iPhone over an Android phone. And a iPad over an Android tablet. Its just a better experience and is better supported with apps. Don't get me wrong I also like Android as well, its a fun OS to tinker with and play all the time with my Evo and my Kindle Fire and I am looking forward to getting a Kindle Fire HD with 4G and rooting that one as well. :)

I think you're right, the iphone 5 will sell but not in the numbers as previous iPhones, rather numbers much higher.

Nearly every industry analyst is perdicting huge unit sales for the iphone 5 between now and the end of the year, and there is nothing from the announcement yesterday that would disappoint and hurt that.

If there weren't so many iterations of Android and so many manufacturers I would like Android more. I too was hoping for more from the iPhone 5 announcement. I for sure thought NFC would have been included since Passbook is an iOS6 feature and is supposed to pull up anything you have for whatever location you're in (i.e. Starbucks or the airport).

Note the ;).

However- UNCLE! I'll look around to see if there are in fact NFC devices where I shop, that I just haven't noticed. If there are, then I'll concede the point. I certainly see the utility, I just have the impression that the infrastructure isn't there yet.

But somehow, I doubt they'll do such a spring release. I think they're sure they can stretch a year out on this one. Not really much more than NFC that will be ready in time to start manufacturing for a spring release.

I wasn't suggesting a spring 2013 release, I was suggesting a spring 2014 release. Just like Apple waited June 2010-October 2011 to go from iPhone 4-iPhone 4s. But 12-13 months is more likely to match with holiday buying.

It just occurred to me: If NFC really is widespread, maybe someone will market a dongle or case with NFC built in.

When I mentioned this to my Los Angeles Radio Shack store manager, he said that he added the module to his card readers two years ago!
If so, they're under our noses everywhere, and we just haven't noticed.

I don't know or care one way or the other, and can't even spell NFC. :)
Can't believe it's such a large bitching point in this thread! ;)

Oh, and let me be the first this time around to put the cart before the horse:

When will the SatGuys app be adjusted for the larger iPhone 5 screen? ;) JK

I'm not upgrading until they release the OTA adapter for the iPhone 5.

Oh wait.... wrong thread! :D

You might be right but like all apple announcements the announcement did not include as much as was rumored and that could discourage some. We shall see.
