Now Cabrera is 4-5 tonight with a HR and 3 singles, now hitting .329.

I think the B.A. portion of the Triple Crown is over probably the RBI's portion as well.

edit: Cabrera's up on Hamilton for the RBI's by 10 with 2 games to go.

Yep, two more games and the Fish folks will come crawling out of the woodwork muttering, "Forget the Triple Crown along with the historic significance of Cabrera being the first to achieve this feat in 45-years...it's all about WAR...Cabrera has no speeds on the bases (true, but Cabrera doesn't need a lot of speed rounding 3rd and coming home after parking one in the bleachers)...Fish has better range at his position...Fish sells Girl Scout cookies over the weekend...nada, nada, nada."

It's amazing how they compare the two players defensively ... seeing they DON'T play the same position, or at least the same part of the field.

FWIW, Cabrera has become a reliable 3bmen.

He's also very good on the base paths ... you don't have to steal bases to be good on the bases.

Who'da thunk it when the Tigers couldn't win 2 in a row in the first half of the season.
Had they started playing at least decent, this would have been over long ago.

That said, the Tigers in the last week or two have started playing well and the Starting pitching has been very good !

Kinda all took place after the Twins swept the DH on them ... they suddenly woke up.

Well, considering they have a Cy Young Award pitcher, a probable Triple Crown Winner, and perhaps back-to-back MVP winners...we should be stomping the competition. I sure hope we get hot in the playoffs. :)

Congrats to the Tigers. Sox gave 'em more of a run than most thought they would, but inexperience and their worst slump of the year got em in the last 2 weeks.

I know all of you Tiger fans are completely sold on Cabrera as MVP, he will probably win it because the Tigers made the playoffs. I'm torn. Trout's defense, the fact that he set records while spending the 1st 3 weeks in the minors and his teams winning % since he's been playing is higher than the Tigers make him a candidate. It will be very close.

Also, not sold on Cabrera as a 3B. He didn't make a ton of errors, but no range. A lot of balls that other 3b get to, he didn't. Has a ss without range as well. They won games with offense and good pitching late. If they can play even average defense in the playoffs, they have a chance.

My playoff alliegence has to go to the Braves now. Son works for them & I want to go to a World Series game. Good luck to you guys, maybe it will be Braves/Tiger and I'll see them in ATL.

I found this interesting, all those that are saying Trout is SOOOOO much better than Cabrera ....

Look at some of the Offensive stats ... fwiw, just because your fast, doesn't make you an MVP.

Cabrera 44 HR's Trout 30
Cabrera 137 RBI Trout 80
Cabrera .329 BA Trout .323
Cabrera 4 SB Trout 48
Cabrera 40 2B's Trout 26
Cabrera 203 Hits Trout 177
Cabrera 97K Trout 136
Cabrera 375 TB Trout 307

Cabrera also leads in OBP, Slugging and OPS
Cabrera is actually over 1000 in OPS
Intentional walks goes to Cabrera 17-5
