I have noticed a huge difference since we got LTE, but I am comparing CDMA 3g to it, so the difference is more pronounced. I have used my phone to tether to the roku for Netflix when cable went out, and to the xbox for online "black ops 2" during the same time. 3G would not have been sufficient for my uses there. WIth LTE it worked without a hiccup . For everyone it may not be as big of a deal. For my uses, not that I have it, I wouldn't want a device that didn't offer it. Just my take.

That's probably it. You're comparing CDMA to LTE. That's a massive difference. I was going from HSPA+ (3.5g) to true 4G LTE. I was already getting between 5 and 10 mbps on HSPA+ Maybe that's what it doesn't seem like a big deal to me.

Most likely that's it. I'm still confused as to why they would leave it out considering the last one had it. Fantastic device otherwise buy that seems like an oversight to me.

None of the previous Nexus devices had LTE. From what I understand, it wasn't included due to LTE fragmentation. It's designed to be a multi-carrier, international ready phone.

After having LTE for a month now, I would have to agree with you. I went from around 8MB download to 30MB download with LTE and it really didn't make much of a difference unless I am downloading large apps.

I also have been eyeing the Nexus 4 and might just make the purchase for a Christmas present for myself.

That phone doesn't do 4G.

I just switched to Verizon and a Galaxy Note 2.

When this contract ends the landscape will be very interesting with everybody having widespread 4g.

I just switched to a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit using T-Mobile Monthly4G and loving it. I'm using the $30 Walmart exclusive plan of 100 minutes and unlimted text and data with the 1st 5 GB at 4G speeds. Right now I have my phone connected to my wi-fi so I don't have to use the 4G unless I'm out of the house.

I have my teenage son on the same plan and phone. It's great and very affordable if you don't talk much and text instead. Which is what the kids do nowadays anyways!!!!!

Here is the difference in a speed test from AT&T LTE and their HSPA+ service.

I've seen that sort of thing too. Problem is, as soon as you start getting a lot of people on it, the difference isn't that much. HSPA+ here has gotten up to 12mbps. Most of the time its around 6 or 7. I go into a large city that's very close to me and I get LTE. I used to get speeds like you showed there, but now I'm getting speeds no greater than hspa+ sometimes even slower. Plus in all reality, on a phone you start getting past 6 or 7 mbps and its just bragging rights. There isn't any real benefit unless you're tethering.

I have a feeling our LTE speeds will end up in the 6-7 range, but that is better than the HSPA+ as I was down to barely 1 with it in the metro. I could get 6-8 on HSPA+ when out side the City, but that didn't help me as most of the time I needed the data speed is in the city.

That sucks for your HSPA+ speeds. My 6-8 MB speeds are within the city so I am a lucky one.
