Can anyone tell me if fox 1 Sports that will be a new channel in Aug be free as CBS Sports and NBC Sports is now. Or will it be tied into the 30 Sports Channels for $14.95.

It is my understanding that at this time DIRECTV has not reached a deal with FOX to carry the new FOX 1 Sports Channel. (Nor has DISH)

Since it is replacing channels, won't they automatically be on there?

Not from what I've read here in the Dish side of things. I had thought that also, appears I was incorrect.

Fox wants more money for them and it changes exactly what the channels are. ie; from single-sport related to multi-sports. I wouldn't have thought that part would be a big deal, but more money sure is.

Time Warner doesn't have a deal, either. We still have a month. This channel hogging crap is getting old really fast. I remember a time when it was "oh cool, we're getting a new channel." Now it's, "Oh, cool - there's a new channel. I wonder if we'll get it...."

It can also be "oh cool, we got a new channel. I wonder how much my bill is going up this time..."

And for Dish customers (and more and more, us, too..) "Oh crap, another new channel. We wont get it AND our bill will go up..."

"FOX Networks will ask cable and satellite providers to pay 80 cents per month per subscriber for the newly rebranded Fox Sports 1, with carriage fees climbing to $1.50 monthly over the life of multi-year contracts.

Affiliates currently pay approximately 23 cents per month for SPEED"

This is Cheap compared to ESPN!

ESPN has many contracts in place for live sports that need to be paid for. Just wait until FS1 joins the fray for NFL rights. The dilution of content continues. How much more filler is available?

NFL rights as long they force networks to offer the feeds to OTA channels in the teams markets I head that is what killed NBCSN from picking up some thursday Night Football games.

Why? ESPN doesn't have any over the air.

ESPN MNF games are shown on OTA stations in the home markets of the teams. So are TNF NFL Network games. When the Panthers played a TNF game last year, the game was on NFL network and WSOC ABC in Charlotte. The ABC affiliation is coincidental and doesn't mean it follows ESPN/ABC.

Some teams have two OTA stations. The Patriots are on a Boston station AND WMUR Manchester, NH and, at one point, the Packers were shown OTA in Green Bay and Milwaukee. Not sure if they still do that in WI.

Ah ok. I never knew that.
