What a bunch of shysters. Sock the charges to you, back off if you complain whilst figuring most will just pay.

They (hoppers) are for a single screen. Add a screen, add a box. Until maybe you have half a dozen

Yep, they should follow the same "no-haggle" sales technique of Saturn. ;)

I'm not fond of haggling myself, but car dealers, TV providers, internet providers, jewelry stores, alarm companies etc. obviously are. Its so common that some people are shocked when they call to quit and a company allows them to quit without a trip through the retention/haggling department.

As for add a screen, add a box, that's generally considered much easier than adding a cable in an existing house. I suppose Dish could be like Roku and try to get some companies to make Wally TVs, but I think that's easier for Roku with their 80 million subscribers.

You still need a wired connection back to hopper, right?

Saturn went out of business, evidently along with its marketing model. I remember when states were bidding against each other to get saturn for a big economic and jobs boost. Anything still happening at the saturn plant? Illinois lost out on saturn but got Diamond-Star Motors (Chrysler-Mitsubishi) as a sort of consolation prize. That eventually went down as well but is now the major Rivian plant.

I remember when one of the big car dealerships around here went to what was called a "one price" model, but that was several years ago and I heard nothing more after a couple years. I guess people either like or expect to haggle. And to fund salesmens' salaries.

interesting a tech told us if our internet went down the joeys went down!!! when there connected via eithernet with no coax from the hub
I could see the Joeys wouldn't be able to run Apps like Prime Video or Pandora which stream from the Internet, but data coming from the Hopper should be fine, same as using MoCA connections.

Easy enough to test if you can unplug your Internet router without causing a mass revolt at your mansion… 😉

You can run Cat5/6 from the LAN connections on the Hopper to 2 Joeys or to a switch and then to the Joeys, not fomr the hub and loss of internet has nothing to do with them working or not
