What firmware have you found works the best in the X2? The only one listed here is the one from April 9th and I know there has been several others released since then.

I went back to the June27 file last night, and the box seemed to be working better for me, better than the latter versions at least. It also has a good NA satellite list in it, where those earlier ones didn't (and early ones also had a limit on the number of sats you could add to the existing list). Seems like the people working on the firmware got sidetracked by requests for making IPTV stuff the priority lately, instead of making other improvements. Mine's not going to be hooked up to the internet at all.

May 20th works the best of all of them (IMO), if you don't care for the IP tv stuff that's mostly worthless for the US so far. I have September 17th on mine, but there is now a September 26th one I haven't tried yet.

Get them all here, (this is a true fta forum, and they have NOTHING to do with eyepatch stuff so it's safe. They shutdown anybody that posts any eyepatch stuff fairly quickly): http://www.legitfta.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?216-X2-Premium-HD-Files

Find out what experiences others have had with them here: http://www.legitfta.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?215-X2-Premium-HD-Discussions

Something that is bothering me, don't know if this is the right forum to ask, but, selecting a sat, to either tune to, or to just check the channel list. I haven't found a good way to be able to select a particular sat, without having to scroll through the list, without being able to SEE the list! On the USALS motorized dish this is very, very, frustrating, on the 6 footer, I have to manually enter the movement, but still very frustrating not to be able to have a full list to see and select from.

Do any of these firmware versions fix/allow that? BTW, it's also the same on the HDVR1200. Maybe I'm not doing something right? Please let me know, I've tried everything I can think of.

Thanks,

I guess I should go over to the LegitFTA forum and check there.

Not able to find that April 20th firmware on legit? is there another place that you know of that has it?

I downloaded the 4/9/13 firmware off here earlier today as it's suppose to have the USA sat map.

They probably won't ship it until Monday so it will be likely be the end of next week before I get it. Meanwhile I'm trying to get all the "stuff" in order to start using it.

You recently registered at legit and we welcome you there, first , introduce yourself , feel free to post your question there. There are several members there testing different firmware versions for the X2 and they will be happy to help you. On the other hand, which firmware version works best?? As with other boxes this is something you need to try for your self. What can be best for me its not for others. You can try all of the posted firmware even going backward and this will not brick or hurt the box. (most of the releases have their improvement notes). As with other models sometimes the firmware versions are wrongly named because of the release or last time modified date which doesn't match the real version release once installed but actually close. Of course there is a RS232 recovery tool with instructions just in case something worst happens. So, this is part of the hobby, testing!!:)

Hit OK, then use FAV to move to sat to sat. There is also a SAT boton

Carlos, on the X2, after hitting OK, in the channel list, pressing either the FAV or the SAT button does the same thing, that is, they just go to another sat, there is no list, so I have no way of knowing what sat is going to come next when I hit the Button.
But, I just noticed, on the Geosat HDVR1200, pressing 'SAT' button in channel list will bring up a list of Sats to choose from, FAV button does nothing.(I have not set any favorites)

As an alternative, pressing SAT boton while watching any channel will give you the sats to chose from. Meanwhile I will forward your request to Xsat/X2 so it can be implemented in the next release.

Do you have any satellites selected and scanned in? If you don't, how can they be brought up in a list?...

As for April 20th firmware, I screwed up my previous posting and now fixed it. I meant MAY 20th. Not sure where it vanished to, but I'll see if I can upload it here. Carlos is right though, you might want to test several firmwares and see what works best for you. The more I hear about the quirks of the SatAv HDVR1200, the more it appears to be almost EXACTLY the same as the X2.

Ok, file is in the moderation queue. You'll have to wait for Ice or one of the other mods to approve it.

another flaw is if you are on a certain sat and hit the radio button,it defaults to the 1st sat that has radio channels.
I then have to choose the sat I want again.

LG=disregard the June firmware reference I gave you, just learned that was the one that screwed up the AAC sound decode, which was working in earlier releases. It was fixed, later on, possibly the July release. I really have to make a notebook to keep up with the changes , lol. I forgot the rule: If it works ok, don't screw with it!

Yes, I have sats selected and scanned. Does your question mean that the sat list works for you? If so, please tell me which firmware, and which key presses, makes it work, thanks.

And, I think they are exactly the same... I'll have to take the covers off both and compare. The remotes are identical in size, shape, and keys layout, BUT, there are different functions and labels for a few keys. Geosat doesn't have the "click" like X2.

I'm wondering if the firmwares from one will work on the other??? <One of these days I may learn to just leave things alone....NAH, won't happen:eek:...LOL!>

Latest firmware will give you a much overall better picture quality, if you connect the box to the Ethernet will give you an accurate working clock for those who like to use the timer for recording plus it will show the correct time in the front panel when turning off the unit. Some switches and audio bugs were also fixed on the last 2 releases, so I will say give it a try to the latest even-though you don't use IPTV at all.

Pressing OK or Fav key brings up the same channel list of all my channels, I do not at present have any favorites set. Pressing SAT brings up satellites I can choose. I'm running 1 firmware back, meaning the early September one. I've been busy and haven't had a chance to load the little newer one.

Which is better overall useage and advantage for the X2 HD Premium, the HDMI connection or the Ethernet connection.
Also Pros and Cons for both connections.

I don't get this question at all, because those connections have nothing to do with each other. HDMI is for the video and audio output going to a tv set. Ethernet connection is for a ethernet cable connection going to your router, to give the receiver access to the internet for IP tv stuff.

You could ONLY hook up to HDMI and watch stuff on the receiver without access to internet stuff, but if you only hook up Ethernet, you'd be staring at a blank screen on your tv set, lol.

Thanks primestar31, You answered my question. I was asking because there was some previous comment about the useage of the weather function as well as the Youtube functions in the X2 HD Premium receiver on another thread, and an ethernet cable was mentioned at that thread, and I was wondering if a Personal Computer was required to be connected to the X2 premium for either of these functions to work. Anyway I am still having dificulties in making the Youtube section work, a type of "mode" have something to do in making this work, but I cannot get anything to work out of the X2 Premium YouTube area.
