OTHER X2 Firmware, What Works Best?

Youtube will require an internet connection. It will have to be either wired via ethernet cable or via the wireless dongle. Either way you'll connect to the internet through your router, if you have one that is.

A little more info on your internet connection might help us help you.

Latest firmware will give you a much overall better picture quality, if you connect the box to the Ethernet will give you an accurate working clock for those who like to use the timer for recording plus it will show the correct time in the front panel when turning off the unit. Some switches and audio bugs were also fixed on the last 2 releases, so I will say give it a try to the latest even-though you don't use IPTV at all.

The latest firmware fixed the clock on screen for me but the clock on my display still doesn't work right. latest firmware did take care off me having to switch between a few channels or reboot for some channels to show a picture. Youtube, weather, all that stuff works for me although I think the interface for Youtube isn't all that great.

I just manually set it once and it forget it and the X2 keeps perfect time. The X2 must be left on and not in standby for recordings if needed. I have never missed a scheduled timer event yet.

Just about every FTA receiver I have ever owned would reset the time and or date incorrectly depending on what satellite or transponder you tuned to. Some channels are right on and others are even decades off.

If you have your box connected to the internet (via Wi-fi or ethernet) and is using any of the last 2 updates and use DEFAULT (USA) on GMT Usage, change the Time Zone for your location , on the next power off/on the box will automatically update the date and time using the internet and will be 100% accurate. This will give you only the 24 Hrs option and should be display accurate like that in the display when turning off. No need to leave the box On or in standby. Any other option will result in a non working or accurate clock.

Yes, this seems to work well. The only thing that might be a bit hard to get used to, is the fact they use European notation for their date field. IE: 07/10/2013 = American 10/07/2013.

So don't get fooled in thinking it's date is set to JULY! lol.

No matter what I set mine to, the display on the front always says 4:00. Which doesn't really matter, it works on screen. Mine is connected to the internet via ethernet, using the last update. Before installing the last update the display clock would change but not be correct, now its always just stuck on 4:00, no matter what.

I wouldn't bet money on that at a casino. It might be as simple as he didn't do a proper factory reset and power cord reboot after installing firmware. I wouldn't trust the automatic reboot after loading to have completely cleared all traces of older firmware.

Currently watching a baseball game on my new toy. Got it in today's mail and it's got the Sept 17th firmware in it out of the box. Got some problems with it too but will do some reading and or start another thread to deal with that.

Actually reloaded the firmware today and now it's working! Same ver.

I just looked at the X2 FTP site and that latest firmware is dated Sept 28. I have no clue about it though.

I have been using the Sept 26 FW and it works fine, previously the Aug 15 FW which I created my channel list with and loads back normally. Some of the older FW I tried didn't like the backup .ssu user files I created. Still has the "other" stuff hidden in there.

Most improvements were for internet based items with the release notes.

there are usually 2 versions on the ftp site,one for u.s. the other for europe.

I don't use the motor function with my X2, as the MicroHD controls all that for me. Anyway, I have read threads on Legit where people have used it with no problems.
