XBOX One Owners Thread

I have a dumb TV question. He has a 720p set that accepts a 1080p signal, Toshiba Regza 37hl67.
Is there any extra conversion going on? Xbone auto set the display settings to 1080p. Working fine. Just not sure I should set it to 720p, which is what the tv is.
I believe the Xbox has a 720p setting. That's what I'd use with a 720p TV set. However, it will be hard to notice the difference either way.
If the games and videos are rendered in 1080p, then it shouldn't matter much who is doing the down-conversion to 720p. Where it could matter is if the content is 720p to begin with. In such case you can probably avoid the double-conversion by setting the Xbox to 720p.
Try it both ways and see if you can spot any difference at all. My guess is that you won't!

I agree with Ilya. Set it to 720p. A lot of the games will actually be native 720p upscaled by the Xbox One to output 1080p. It probably won't make a noticeable difference but I would avoid having the Xbox scale up to 1080p only to have the TV scale back down to 720p. If I have the option I cut out any conversion.

thanks. I tried both. I see no difference. XBOne is now set to 720p. Agreed. Want to cut out any extra conversion.

One of our XBOX Ones is having trouble with video passthrough.

When I hook the DISH Joey up to it it works fine, until I shut the Xbox One Off (by saying XBOX TURN OFF) then when I turn it back on and try watching TV I get an error that initializing TV has timed out. If I try going into the TV settings the same thing happens.

If I unhook the HDMI cable from the Joey to the XBOX I can then get into the settings. I then plug the HDMI cable in and go into setting and I can see video from the Joey... however the Joey keeps rebooting itself.

I swapped out HDMI cables, and the Joey works fine direct to the TV.

My other XBOX One is hooked up the same way and works fine. I am not sure if I got a bad XBOX one or not.

In order to reduce spousal difficulties, I am now just leaving the XBox on 24/7 as I do with my satellite receiver.... It has that massive form factor as a design feature so it CAN be left on all the time per MS's engineers. No issues and has been working fine. Case is cool to the touch, and I have it in a shelving unit with decent airflow (other side of shelf unit is in a utility closet in the garage... room is insulated and climate controlled so good ventilation between family room and utility closet through shelving openings. This way, no worries about no picture because XBox is off..... It just works.

As for your issue Scott, can it have something to do with that new HDMI standard that E* added to the box? My 722 is behaving well with the XBox.

Well this is pretty neat. using Internet Explorer on the Xbox to surf satguys and using smart glass to let me use my phone to type this reply.

In real time watching it appear on my tv. cool.

The tv integration and voice commands have alot of potential, but for now, its just glitchy enough to make me annoyed from time to time. .

While there is still a lot of room for improvement, I now see that much of my frustration is based in how things are asked. It makes a difference and takes some of the frustration away.

I think they could have something good here, done correctly of course.

Anyone have it just not respond to voice?

Had a few times after getting home and it had been on all day.

Said xbox on. Fine. All came on. Navigate to tv. Again, all good.

An hour later, nothing. Had to manually shut it off to get it to respond to voice again. Smartglass and controller worked fine.

I seem to be having a similar issue with HDMI pass-through from Joey this morning. Getting error 0x8027025a "For some reason TV took too long to start" It worked fine until this morning.

I had to power-cycle both the Xbox and the Joey in order to restore the signal. Not sure if this is Xbox's or the Joey's fault, but I hope this is just a software issue.

I had the same issue just now with on of my HR boxes. Had to power cycle the Xbox to get it back and it took some time to reboot and come back up completely.

It looks like 3D is not supported even for pass-through. Just watched "Man of Steel" in 3D on Dish. I had to switch the input to bypass the Xbox.

3D is not supported right now. They said they expect it in an update in the "near future". This thing is about 80% done so I am guessing some of the royalty contracts are still pending.....

Amazon currently has Xbox One in stock. I added Dead Rising 3 and a year of Xbox Live to my cart and found out that there is discounted pricing when you buy them together. I got all 3 together for $588 instead of the normal $620. Mine will be arriving Thursday.

All gone. :(

I'm so jealous man. You plan on PS4 and end up winning one allowing you to use that money to buy an XBox One. What a perfect scenario, the stars were aligned for you. LOL

Yeah! The only way it could have worked out any better is if I won an Xbox One too.

Whats sad to me is both my kids got PS4's and XBOX Ones and already have them setup. The part that makes me sad is both of them are not using them instead playing on XBOX 360.

Another thing they do is IF one of them is playing XBOX One they walk by each others room and say "XBOX OFF.... YES!" and turn off each others XBOX. I wish XBOX OFF command could be disabled.

I may be wrong, and I would have to look when I got home, but I thought you could disable that in either the power or kinect menu.

That's why I've been holding off getting the PS4, lack of games that my kids want to play. The oldest boy really wants Infamous-Second Son, but it doesn't come out til after the new year. None of us care for FPS, so even if I got the PS4 now, it would gather dust while they play the PS3.
At least the PS2 was backward compatible, so if got a good bit of use on day 1.
