Video Game Deals

Gamefly Digital is having a 2K Games sale, and with any purchase (excluding DLC) you get a FREE copy of Spec Ops: The Line. If you recall I gave it a GOTY award, and it's worth checking out.

2K seems to put out great PC deals more often than any other publisher. I picked up the Brave New World expansion for Civ V. It's $29.99 on Steam and I got it for $8.99 thanks to this sale. I am considering XCOM Enemy Unknown and the Enemy Within expansion even though I already got the base game free from PS+.

Turn based strategy games on PC are great for when I have to go take care of my dad at their house. It's something to kill time when he's sleeping but if I have to walk away and do something for him it's easy to jump right back in later. Story based games aren't usually good for that and their laptop can't handle very demanding games. Plus I'm still not very good with a mouse and keyboard and strategy games are one genre that's easy for me to control. I'm still waiting for a good deal on Sim City because I think it would be good for these purposes too but they don't seem to be discounting that one yet.

'Nother big PSN Sale starting tomorrow. An additional Vita game sale as well. I'm finally going to bite on The Walking Dead Season 2 pass ($10.49 for Plus members) and for The Wolf Among Us ($8.99 for Plus members), though I had been holding out for Vita versions of both TellTale games (I found I preferred the touchscreen for the "combat" elements in TWD1, though lag was really bad throughout.)

I'm tempted to get Ni No Kuni for $6.99 but I'm pretty confident it will be free for PS Plus at some point. I would also probably buy Diablo 3 if they said it would be cross buy with the eventual PS4 version. I'm just a little gun shy about buying PS3 games at this point because they have been offering newer games ever since the PS4 was released. Plus the PS3's days in my entertainment center are numbered. I'm still keeping it around to play some of the PS Plus games and the big backlog games I haven't finished yet but I don't see myself keeping a PS3, PS4, Xbox One, and gaming PC all in the living room hooked up to my main TV for long.

What do you consider a "Good deal" for Sim City? I've seen it as low as 50% off, and sometimes more if you use a promo code. Also, some have argued that SimCity 4 is better than the new Simcity anyways.

I can't think of a better example of a First World Problem.

I tried the Ni No Kuni demo a few months ago when it was on sale for $10 I believe. The demo was horrible and only showed me how frustrating the combat is when you have no idea how it works (in 4-5 attempts I never managed to beat an early-game enemy, as the demo offered very little tutorial info). So I decided to pass for the time being, knowing, as you said, it will eventually be free for Plus members.

The only reason I've decided to grab the Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead season 2 passes in this sale is because I don't think I'll see a better price until after all episodes are released, which at the rate Talltale is going, will be about this time next year. I now no longer have any hope that the recently announced Borderlands and Game of Thrones games by Telltale will be released in my lifetime. lol

Well, it's currently $32.33 on Amazon and that is the lowest price I have seen for it. I'm sure that part of the problem is that I check Steam almost daily and they don't have any of the current EA games. Outside of Humble Bundles I don't regularly check any of the other online game stores unless I hear of a specific deal. It's not a game I absolutely have to play so the prices I have seen haven't been good enough to get me to pull the trigger. If I saw it in the $10-$15 range I would grab it and about $20 is probably the most I would even think about paying for it.

I don't think D3 will ever be on PS4 as it's own product, but rather D3 + expansion

Sent from my VZW Note 3

I would also be open to the PC version once the auction house is officially gone. From what I have heard though the console version is actually more balanced and fun right now because the auction house never existed on consoles and they have had better loot drops from the start. When I do eventually get it I will likely get the expansion too if they can both be had for a good price.

Edit: It looks like the Humble Indie Bundle 11 just added a few more games. If anyone wants a Steam key for FEZ shoot me a PM and it's yours. The Swapper and Gianna Sisters are still on the table if someone wants those too.

If you have keys you're trying to get rid of and are on Reddit, you can go to http://www.reddit.com/r/randomactsofgaming and put up keys there. I've done that a few times.

I wanted to give the games away to satellite guys but it no one has ever taken me up on one of these offers. I guess there aren't that many PC gamers here and the ones we do have already buy the humble bundles that have games they want. I guess I might just start putting them up on reddit.

I would take them, but I already have such a backlog that I'd prefer they go to someone who can play them sooner.

IF by some miracle you still have a copy of Burnout Paradise, you can get the Ecto-1 for free on it TODAY. Oh, and this is for Console versions only, as the DLC "store" for PC users shut down a while ago, so you get to pound sand.

Oh, and apparently a dinosaur game is F2P until tomorrow and costs $.99 if you want to buy it.

Thanks for the heads up! Just the incentive I needed to get back into the only racing game that's easy enough for me to feel "successful" at it (at least against the AI--lol).
Here's the direct link to the Legendary Cars Pack in the PSN Store.

Yeah I loved the Burnout games, although I never got into Paradise much when I played it. I have Burnout 3 on my Xbox 360 sitting dormant. I should play that again.

March will be another solid month for PS Plus members, especially Vita owners. Dead Nation is one of my all-time favorite PSN titles, and I would definitely jump into it again if I had a PS4 (though I did four complete runs through the PS3 version some time ago).
And it seems holding out on some recent great sales on Tomb Raider paid off. Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten to the PS3 freebees from January (namely, Bioshock Infinite and Brothers).

March Instant Game Collection Preview
Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition (PS4)
Tomb Raider (PS3)
Thomas Was Alone (PS3/Vita)
Lone Survivor: Director's Cut (PS3/Vita)
Unit 13 (Vita)
Monster Hunter: Freedom Unite (Vita)

This is a pretty good Month for PS Plus users. Unlike Outlast which is more stressful than fun for me I'm actually looking forward to Dead Nation. I will also get some good use out of Thomas Was Alone, Lone Survivor, and Unit 13 on the Vita. Thomas Was Alone seems like the perfect fit for the Vita. Tomb Raider is a good game too but I already have a better version on PC. Monster Hunter is probably the only one I will completely ignore.

I think I'm going to have to upgrade to a 64GB memory card this summer. That's when I do most of my traveling and the Vita will get the most use then. I will be spending a lot of time in areas with no internet so I need to load up the Vita with all these games and start making a dent in them.
