Dish and Turner will eventually see eye-to-eye at some price point that they can both agree to...it's inevitable...it won't be as much as Turner wants and it'll be more than Dish was paying them...it's called negotiations and compromise. In the end, we (the subscribers) will also be paying more. It's how it all works...it's how I've watched it work for close to a decade now with Dish...
Except what's been leaked is if Turner will grant Dish streaming rights as part of its upcoming online only NUtv service, not money issues, digital rights use.

I'm curious, was it legal for them to let you go without giving you your unpaid vacation or portion of 401k? At what point are we not in a recession? The reason I question that is because I hear people talk about how bad times are yet but all I see when I drive from town to town are businesses looking for employees. You said you were fortunate to get another job quickly but I actually think that's pretty normal since there are plenty of jobs to be had.

I think you're one of the few that was actually willing to take a job right away for lesser pay. What usually happens when a person loses their job is that they find that they can make just as much money collecting unemployment as they can starting at a new job. I have a friend who is doing this right now and drives me crazy. He's basically just holding out until he gets offered a job that will pay him what he wants. This may not be the same situation where you live but I've seen numerous cases like it here.

I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know. There were several of us that talked to an attorney about a lawsuit, but were advised even if we won, not likely to get the $. You are correct in that there are jobs available...........but not many management & higher paying jobs. You are correct, most people would choose to stay at home & collect unemployment. I was not brought up that way. I am from the old school. You work every day regardless..........no excuses. I just don't understand what these people do for insurance. I was literally in a state of panic when I lost my job

The Pension Protection Act of 2006 set minimum guidelines for the vesting of matching contributions.

Cliff vesting, which is 100% ownership was limited to 3 years after hire. Graded vesting, which gives a percentage increase each year, was limited to 6 years.

I don't know anyone who went on unemployment and got "just as much money" as they did from their old job - but I do know some people who lost their jobs. They were able to barely scrape by on the unemployment benefit. Why would they take a job that paid less than the benefit, unless they were fixing to run out?

I wasn't saying they made as much as their old job. What happened is they lost their job and started looking for new jobs. The new jobs had starting pay that were similar to getting unemployment. This person decided that if he could make a similar amount of money collecting unemployment then he might as well just sit at home instead of working. What these types of people don't think about is insurance, retirement plans and other benefits that come from a job. I think the person didn't actually have to worry about insurance either because of some Hawkeye Plan.

When I lost my job with Dish, in Febuary, I decided to go back to school. I am living off my retirement from the Army and the GI Benefits to get by monthly. Funny part about it, I make more money doing this, then when I was with dish, and I am bettering myself for future careers, as the Army will not only pay for my Bachelors, but will also pay me for an additional 12 months towards my MBA. So if I can buckle down and knock out as many classes as possible, I can get my masters in 4 years, from nothing, and have a much better pay in the long run. Down side, I think my hair is starting to fallout from stress of overloading my school schedule, and maintaining that 4.0. I was a 2.3 student in high school. It's rough, but it's all about will power.
Why you lost job in Dish? and what was your position?

i am gladly to get TNT/TBS a lacarte for $3.00 the only channels i am interested is TNT/TBS/FX. i have Welcome Pack. Why pay 35.00 additional for 3 channel or 5 (FXX and REELZ).

To each his own...they could go ahead & get rid of Fox News & MS-NBC and I wouldn't even notice (and the world would be a better place)....but if they dropped ESPN, I'd switch tomorrow & eat the ETF.
I create another company or contracted other like NPS, to delivery the others channel, like in the 90's Directv & USSB.

Me and management did not see eye to eye, and I strongly disagreed with a few employee rights issues for my agents and some agents close to me, but that is a story for another day. It was an isolated incident, that isn't really for the forum, and I was a supervisor for the broadband/advanced tech department and I was a supervisor for a team of agents specific to Hopper/Joey accounts.

i hope you are right about that scott its been about two weeks since this has been happening i wonder if we have go through the same thing when the cbs contract up next month?

Classic mistake - you wouldn't get those channels for $3. I don't even think when/if A La Carte is widely used content providers will let you buy only some of their channels, just as they won't let the carriers do it.
