Rockstar Releases GTA V Gameplay Video

Remember that stupid lawsuit that Lindsay Lohan filed against Rockstar? Well, she filed a 67 page complaint with supposed "evidence" that the game used her likeness. Just glancing over the exhibits, it's PAINFULLY obvious that The Pritchard Law Firm is just sucking whatever little money Lindsay has in filing this lawsuit, because there is NO WAY she can win this, unless the laws protecting parody have been overruled recently and I just missed a memo.

Ridicules if you ask me. Lots of other violent games being sold, but they "target" this one.

I think Australia is just weird about games in general. I remember reading the Steam discussion page for Saint's Row IV and seeing lots of complaints from Australians. Apparently their government doesn't allow certain games to be sold in that country without being censored first.

I think the problem Australia has with games is more to do with sexual content than violent content. If I remember correctly the part of Saint's Row that had to be censored out for Australians was a gun that killed enemies by anally probing them.

It's pretty hypocritical if they allow books and movies to be sold without that same censorship though. Governments still treat video games as a kids toy even though the average age for gamers is well into adult territory. As long as you have content ratings and age restrictions there should be no need for this censorship.

Overall it just sucks to be a gamer in Australia. You typically get games later than everyone else (although recently AAA releases have alleviated that), their games and software are more expensive (typically around $100 Australian, and $1 Australian is $1.19 US, and let's not forget the Adobe CS price debacle), they often have bad multiplayer support because companies rarely put up servers locally for them (or at least not in the same amount they do in US and Europe) and as mentioned, they are heavy on censorship. L4D2 was different there as they cut out a lot of excessive blood, and let's not forget what they did to the South Park game. Some people get around that by importing games from Europe, but for PC releases on Steam you're basically SOL (maybe there's a way around it with VPNs but it's still a major annoyance.)

But yes overall it's complete bull that in 2014 we're still censoring art.

And pointless. How can any government completely censor gaming content anyway? Are they able to also censor live gaming streams, YouTube walkthrough videos, or the PS4 shareplay feature? Not to mention, it only takes a matter of minutes for someone to set up a PSN account in another county, fund it via PayPal or by buying PSN codes on the Internet in that country's denomination, and then start buying anything from that region's PSN store. That's what most gamers from Australia/New Zealand I encounter in my Playstation forums do.

It's all just PR and political posturing ... and doomed to backfire, as the Australian powers that be just ensured every pre-adolescent who hasn't played GTA V yet will now make their life's mission to see what the fuss was about.

Looks like GTA V on PS4/One got a graphical DOWNGRADE of all things resulting from recent patches.

Here's the translated Youtube text:

This time we go with a VERY unfortunate comparison. It seems that by mistake or on purpose, Rockstar has cut in several graphic aspects GTAV for PS4 / ONE with the arrival of the last 2 updates. Complaints and rumors started when some users noticed that collisions of the vehicles had worsened and anisotropic filtering worse.

Therefore, I decided to reinstall the game in its vanilla version and what I have found beyond those two aspects:

- Worse anisotropic filtering.
- Gran cut in the parallax occlusion (earth, stones, gravel ...)
- Mayor popping (especially in traffic)
- Worse distance drawn (blurred)
- Cuts in the system of vehicle damage.

This is, at least, outrageous. I really hope it has been a mistake when schedule updates, because it seems quite serious.

At the end of the video I invite you to press Rockstar with hahstag #FIXGTAV, so at least have the decency to give some explanation.
