Hmm, weird. When I turned on the TV this morning, a message box showing firmware download complete was on the screen, and ok or cancel. Hit ok and it installed the 922 firmware. So it looks like with the online update the receiver will auto download new firmware and then give you the option to install or cancel.

Yes, i have enabled autoupdate because 992 has been most stable.

Main changes:
Recording is getting more stable, we are still trouble shooting audio drop outs and jitter.
Motor controls have become slightly better (new version addresses sporadic motor move to nowhere)
Number of motor positions have been expanded to 249
Standard resolution display fixed (we are still working on quicker update on channel stats, currently it takes at least 10 seconds or additional info button push to populate info)
Minor internal changes preparing for shared network drive.
Removed the bug that rebooted receiver when transponder was deleted (deleting all TP's will still nock you to first satellite in the list)
The last recording is no longer hanging the receiver.
Removed iTBN shortcut to XMBC and restored Schedule (timer) link (it can be accessed from pressing the CLOCK key on remote as well)
IPTV channel list added all 3ABN and all LLBN channels, including 3ABN Kids, 3ABN French, 3ABN Russia, LLBN Chinese, LLBN South Asia - also just re-listing Believer's Voice of Victory, NRB, Safe TV, Watchman, FFE (former GMC) and TheDove from Oregon.

Upcoming changes:
Motor more stabilized, no more moving motor until designated position is entered
Internal drive sharing on the network
Please let me know if we still have the No Signal or Scrambled, when the channel is showing properly?

Still in the works
Digital 708cc
Recording jitters (trouble shooting NBC on 103 and PBS on 125)
Channel editor (sharing the network drive will help with internal drive channel lists)
Delete all TP's nocks user back to Astra or the first satellite in the list
IPTV channels Hope Channel and 12 of it's feeds (hopefully!)
Wiegel channels stored properly

I have been playing around with the XBMC feature of the unit. I have found several addons that work pretty well. I am also running into many addons that "error" or "fail to install". Some install and when I browse to a show or video and click it nothing happens or it acts like it is starting up and then flips back to the XBMC list where I started. Is this due to incompatibility of our version of XBMC? Are there any future plans once the basic functions of the unit are fixed to make any improvements to XBMC? This feature is new to me and I am learning but without any in-depth instructions my learning is hit and miss. One thing that I have been encountering is that if I am locked up or rebooted that I loose all of my addons that I have added from my list becuase they are on my (back) external drive so I have to go in and re-activate external drive setting in XBMC to get them back.

Also, the WIFI seems to take a long time to connect. I even installed a new router hoping that would improve the time to connect to WIFI but it still takes sometimes 5 minutes or more to connect. My router is about 15 ft away and no other devices in the house have any trouble connecting. If I go to Network in Settings and click on configure I get a message that no signal can be found. I am not sure if this is a problem with my network or what. Just curious if anyone else is encountering a slow WIFI connection issue?

I understand your pain. We will provide further instructions as we go further into the woods. Please follow my previously posted video on simple add-on. Please, understand that KODI approved add-ons have more luck in working, where other developers may have improper or outdated coding. We will provide further XBMC support for entertainment.

Wifi should not take 5 minutes, what security are you choosing? Is the antenna connected properly? In normal circumstances the connection takes 10 seconds or less. Troubleshoot further and let us know your router settings.

I have tried to add my own IPTV channels by importing a channel list in .txt and in .m3u formats by going to IPTV then Red button for settings and then Blue button for import file. The receiver doea not even see the .txt channel list. It does see the .m3u list but nothing happens when I scroll to it and select.

Is there a specific file format the rwceiver supports? Is there a different way to load the channel lists. Can anyone provide detailed instructions or a step by step how to video?

I am using 64bit WEP to secure my wifi network. I performed a Factory Default and Restore all and then restored my channels list and it seems to be connecting better with the wifi router now, The unit is more responsive now as well. Thanks

Also, can you specify file types supported and any other requirements we need to know to add our own channels and playlists.

The best ones and easiest to find are M3U8, which are compatible with most IPTV decoders. Most IPTV steams that VLC will play, will work on our receiver.

That means RTMP, MMSH, UDP/RTP, TCP/RTP, TS, AVI, WMV will stream and i have personally tested these. The flash embedded streams can be viewed from XBMC.

Unfortunately i don't want to promise to create basic instructions on how to build xbmc git add-on, because this is much more difficult for people who have not done any coding.

Please specify which particular file or stream type are you interested in or need?

Is it only url's with .m3u8 extensions that the unit supports or does it support other file types for IPTV? Can you please clarify? Also, can you specify file types supported and any other requirements we need to know to add our own channels and playlists.

Thanks

I started Googling and found a pretty large and active community of people exchanging and listing links to IPTV streams. Some worked, some didn't. You can use the "Open Network" option in VLC Media Player to test the links then, if they work, add them to your custom list.

If you look at the structure of the .xml file linked above, you should be able to figure out how to make one by hand. If not, ask for help. It's quite straightforward once you know.

I tried pasting this ( http://frlive.artestras.cshls.lldns.net/artestras/contrib/frlive/frlive_925.m3u8 ) from the above TEST .xml file into the Open Network Stream box in VLC but I keep getting an error. I really don't know what I am doing but I want to learn how to input channels into IPTV. I watched the above video but it did not help me understand. I only have 3Mbps internet speed available in my rural area and most XBMC channels require a faster connection to stream without buffering. IPTV seems to stream good and without the buffering so I want to learn how to add channels. Help Please...

Open Network Stream box in VLC but I keep getting an error
What error are you getting? I just tested it in both the receiver and VLC and it shows.

To add it to receiver, please do following.

Download and save http://marketing.glorystar.tv/update/IPTVSample.xml IPTVSample.xml into your flash drive.
Plug flash drive into your receiver.
Press IPTV button to go to IPTV. Press Red button to Settings. Press Blue button and find the IPTVSample.xml on your drive and press OK.
Pres Exit and wait to get back to video. Then press ok and press right arrow until you see category NEW, there you will see Arte Francois channel, click ok on it.

You will start watching it.

In VLC I get an error box with red letters reading "Your input can't be opened". I was just pasting the http address line from inside of the .xml file into the VLC Open Network Stream box to see if it would play so I could learn how to test channels like Martyn described above. There were other options and settings and I probably didn't have everything properly selected for it to play. I was going to try to get one to stream with VLC before monkeying around with the IPTV on my 3500 HDVR, But it is obvious I am over my head....LOL

WPA-PSK would be much better and secure to use than WEP. WEP is easily broken where as WPA-PSK is a lot harder and a time consuming process to get pass.

I'd suggest that if you're only 15' from your router, use a hard line instead of wireless, it's a much faster and better connection and much more secure.

the update bin file linked in post #439 is version 922 (at least when I downloaded it tuesday)

EDIT - make that version 992.

I've installed it. Close together satellite news truck uplinks (5 MHz apart) with the same SR doesn't tune reliably -- you can ch up/down between the two and have it show the same video when the video in each feed is different (but that may be related to the weigel thing that is in the to-do list as mentioned in the 922 changelog post).

I did find a big thing about radio distribution - in the radio distributors who essentially set up multiple audio channels under one service id with the "multiaudio" tile lighting up on the info bar, there are a maximum of 16 audio channels that are selectable . Both of the radio distributors in the arc have more than 16 audio services so that means quite a few audio services can't be tuned unless the 16 channel limit is removed if it's even possible. Maybe those unable to be selected audio channels can be added through a manual channel addition but I haven't tried that.

still also have some tuner weirdness as I previously reported with 979 - the 5% SNR signals sometimes playing steady when it should be very broken up if that reading is correct, the 60% SNR signals somtimes breaking up when they should be playing solidly if the reading is right, and the rare carrier that is found in blind scan and channels written to the channel list but there is a "no signal" on the screen when trying to tune it.

Hmm, it works for me too. It's the French version of arte.

Let's try a couple of other files and see if they play or not. If they all fail, it might indicate a problem with your PC environment - maybe the VLC install or network connection?

Here's CNN International. This has been playing pretty well for me in both the STB and VLC and I watch it a lot because: real news!
http://wpc.c1a9.edgecastcdn.net/hls-live/20C1A9/cnn/ls_satlink/b_528.m3u8

Here's DW TV:

And here's London Live:
http://bcoveliveios-i.akamaihd.net/hls/live/217434/3083279840001/master_900.m3u8

You should also be able to play non-m3u8 streams in VLC and the STB. I have a link to North Korean TV:

mms://121.167.43.161/chosun

Do those all play or do you get errors?
