So, if I want a H3 and want to keep one of my HWS, I will have to have a separate dish for the H3 and HWS?

Maybe this was asked already, but can you still have a tailgate rec on your account with the h3?

Id assume, since I could only have one H3 on my account and not with a HWS, to return my dual HWS's I could backup my recordings and then get an H3? We stay so far behind no telling when I could clear off a DVR drive.

DISH is actually not allowing people to upgrade at the moment, as they know people will be pissed if they get a Hopper with Sling and are stuck with it for 2 years when the Hopper 3 is coming out.

EDIT - What I said above is for existing customers. If you are a new customer I would wait until the H3 is released so you get one of those. :D

My parents are going to be upset as they signed for dish on the 27th and got the hopper with sling. They probably won't be able to upgrade without paying more money now.

You can back up your stuff to an external hard drive Also heard there could be a way to transfer from the old Hopper to the H3 using a Ethernet cable. But since the old Hoppers are only 100 m but I can only imagine that it will be slow to transfer everything is you have a lot of stuff.

Thanks. Best move would be to get the RAID device I want when it gets time to upgrade and just move everything over from my HWS. Trade both in for a H3 install.

Will there be a web based option or some kind of work around to import timers from those of us that have two or more Hoppers?

How many remotes will come with Hopper 3 and will the current remotes work with the this system? I currently have 5 TV's that will need to be hooked up.

Hopper 3 will be available this month and will be a zero cost upgrade for qualified accounts.

I hope this turns out to be true. Watching the Live stream they said is it would be a zero cost upgrade for qualified new accounts. The word "new" which Scott didn't type makes me wonder if existing customers can upgrade for free. Past history would make me think that Dish will not let existing customers upgrade for free, at least in the beginning. When they allow existing customers to upgrade there is usually an upgrade fee at first. I hope I'm wrong because I think the hopper 3 and a couple 4K joeys would make for a major upgrade for my current 2HWS setup.

Back up timers to the remote and restore them to the H3

Yes old remotes will work although the system is designed for the new 50.0 remote.
