Shows are encrypted so you would need a receiver to plug the HD into.Why cant we just use a flash drive

One cannot order anything from Dish before its release date. There is no such thing as a pre-order....

Got to agree, Dish has never, and likely will never do a prerelease. Just not their style.
You do realize you posted a rebuttal to my optimism with the word "likely" meaning even you realize things can change.
